67 wouldn't be happening if we had the actual data for "dudes that can't stay awake at cruise past 8 p.m. by age" chart.

That's why I think they should do a study. Of actual North American airline pilots, and you could include recently retired airline pilots if you wanted to get a look past 65.

Dated studies, foreign studies, or studies of non-representative demographics are not credible when it comes to book-ending our livelihoods. Anecdotes don't count either.

And studies done in places where the medical bar is much higher don’t count either. Apples to apples and all.

I don't care about their pilot medical standards.

But no we shouldn't use foreign demographics either way. Japanese are presumably healthier (diet).

Most other foreign demographics are not as healthy as upper middle class Americans. We have access to and can afford decent healthcare, and are culturally inclined to healthy living. More so than most foreigners, who overall tend to smoke more and exercise less.

Ain't even 8pm. I've flown with guys, who in 2pm daylight, nod off at cruise. But don't worry when they're awake I'll hear all about how age 67 is an extra two years of pay for everybody, so everybody's a winner.

Bonus points: they'll also be sure to tell me all about their 80 acre ranch, rental properties, boat, airplane, new house they just built, and show me n00dz of their hot, totally in it for the love, girlfriend and then tell me how lucky I am because starting pay in 1990 was $3.50 and they NEED more money for retirement.

On the pilot side I disagree completely. Everyone talks about the astronaut physicals in other countries. There is truth to it having talked to people I fly with now that came from international carriers. So those people are presumably a lot healthier (either genetics or harder work at it because of their standards) than the average American pilot just to get a medical. tracking their decline as they get closer to 65 is probably not going to look as bad as it would be in the US just due to the high bar just to hold their version of a Class 1 to start with.
So yeah, you have to know what your control group is in a study.

Age 50 wouldn't be happening for a LOT of guys if the 0600 departures couldn't take a nap on the southbound, or northbound, leg.

I think I read recently that EK requires a BMI of 30.0 or less to keep flying.

Use 6'0" as a baseline - 223 lbs is grounded. Every inch change gains, or loses, 6 lbs.

6'2"? 234 lbs is grounded.

5'10"? 211 lbs is grounded.
