The mental gymnastics people go through to justify all this is pretty amazing

Do you think vacation trips to Europe are more important than keeping deranged people from having nukes? Is THAT really your priority?
how close were they? Two weeks? Did we obliterate it last year? It’s all so very confusing. But I sure am glad we’ve nuked any last shred of credibility with the world stage

Make sure you tell the younger generation of airline pilots what happens when the legacies cutback on widebody flying. Don’t forget to include a “yawn” and “emoji shrug” for added affect.

47 years of “Death to America” and funding of terrorist operations in multiple countries and about to get a nuke, and you worry about a cutback of widebody flying? Oh, boo-hoo. Even if they weren’t about to get ICBMs capable of hitting the US (Europe was already within their range) one lousy nuke in a shipping container could pretty much take out any of our major ports. That might just slow up widebody flying a little too. Not to mention kill a couple hundred thousand people.

How exactly are we preventing them from getting a nuke? Show your work. Meanwhile we are creating countless more terrorists with our actions.

Iran was about to get a nuke just like Saddam had WMDs.

Just because you repeat this talking point over and over doesn't make it true

The difference was that they were actively working towards it, and had the technology and industrial capacity. Over the last 20 years, aside from a few external setbacks, they mostly *chose* not to sprint to the finish line.

So their negotiators were lying to us? Then how can we trust anything they say?

And seriously, those last few steps are a whole lot easier than they were 80 years ago. Slapper detonators in lieu of bridge wire, for example. And you can get capacitors big enough to power a firing circuit on Amazon. They sell them to power the bass speakers in your low rider

You don't even need an exquisitely timed implosion device... gun type works just fine, if you want an easy, reliable bang and don't care too much about weight or efficiency (ala Little Boy @ Hiroshima).

Not great for ICBM use, but if they just wanted to a demo to prove their point, or the shipping container thing...
