Economic Impacts of Iran War

Nonetheless, seven previous administrations had stated that Iran coukd not be allowed to have nuclear weapons. It wasn’t like concern about a nuclear armed Iran would have come as a surprise to anyone paying attention.

I doubt the Japanese were taken all that seriously before Pearl Harbor, despite the fact they were already occupying Manchuria, China, Korea, and northern Indochina.

And then this war, under the guise we were under “imminent threat.” Thats horse manure - and you know it. I wish some here could at least take that step back and acknowledge that. We were not under any imminent threat. There is no nuke or ballistic missile capable of reaching us from Iran in 2025 or 2026. The reasons for the war changed several times. Then it became well Israel was going to attack, so we feared our bases would get hit, so we attacked too. And then some on APC said this has nothing to do with Iran, it’s actually a power move against Russia and China (LOL).
So - since this back and forth will get nowhere. Let’s just talk about how this ends , because that’s what this thread is really about. Economic impact to us all. How do you envision Trump ending this? I can’t use the 4 letter word that represents a Mexican food item, but I’d be willing to bet we are going to end up getting a terrible deal when all is said and done. But it’ll be played as a victory.

So let’s get this straight: you’re arguing that high fuel prices under Biden were bad, but because he got a pass in your estimation (he didn’t…..he was pushed out of the presidency mainly due to widespread frustration with the economy, but whatever), Trump should also get a pass? Biden did stupid things so Trump should get a turn? About sum it up? Man, that’s some airtight logic right there. You should try out for the masterdebater team.

Yes it was bad under Biden because ~4% of that 9% were directly caused by his failed policies and bills such as the misnamed "Inflation Reduction Act". Gas prices are going up now because we are fighting a threat that has been ignored and coddled for almost 50 years. One is a good reason, the other is not.
No. That is not why gas went up in 2022. Gas went up for 3 main reasons. Huge increase in post pandemic demand, the Russian invasion of Ukraine and sanctions that followed, and the energy industry dynamics when a bunch of energy firms went BK and producers reduced refining and drilling capacity.

Nobody was talking about Iran before the election. It was “no new wars”. That was the foreign policy drumbeat. There’s literally nothing this guy will do where you won’t be retroactively justifying it, even if it’s the exact opposite thing that you were yelling about months before.

Newsflash. They don’t have nukes. And they wouldn’t have nukes for the next 10 yrs, esp after last years June bombing. Source: our own U.S. intelligence.
Nuclear weapon is the new boogeyman. NK is even nuttier than Iran, yet they never got bombed like Iran. Weird. Oh wait, I know why.
