How well did Alaska pay when they were a startup? (ok bad question, as that was the 30's), but how about Southwest. or Airtran, etc?

I frankly think its worse when a well established union from a well established airline votes to accept deep pay cuts, thus re-defining the pay scales of everyone smaller (including startups)..

A start up with lots of promise opens up and tells its workers .. in due time you'll get paid better (and I assume their pilots will expect it), that's not so sad in my book... that's jobs.

So you'd turn away a VX or SX pilot?

Be that as it may, how are you helping the situation by denying them a ride home or to work? I make a pittance as well and fly a "big RJ". Would you deny me your jumpseat as well?

CASS=Cockpit Access Security System. And a question to those who would deny a j/s for say a Gojet pilot? Do you tell them to their face that that is the reason you won't let them ride?

They're usually the ones that get on without telling the crew that they're there.

They have never been denied. The problem is there is never a usable seat. Too bad.

Yeah, this happened here and was a legitamate issue at an outstation. O2 was not high enough for three people up front. GJer whined and the company tried to fire the crew. Funny thing is that nwo GJers are trying to deny TSA pilots jumpseats. Happened to a friend of mine last week. We'll see how well the teamsters protect their jobs...

So do you guys travel with a scab list with you? Then when someone comes to use the JS "Hey whats you name? Ok Joe Smith, hold... Nope you're on my list, and not getting on! So long sucker!"

Yes, I have a Scab list with me and if the pilot is with UAL or CAL and I see that they were hired about the strike time, I apologize and tell them I have to check my list. When I determine they are clean I welcome them aboard and invite them to any available seat. If I see that they are on the list, I ask them if that is true (always is) and I ask them to leave my aircraft..............

sure, that's how it's been for decades... this denying people with otherwise no union problems the j/s based only on where they work is a new thing, and frankly part of what wrong with this profession (or lack thereof).

A true gentlemans way of solving the issue, I like it.

So you'd turn away a VX or SX pilot?
