Denying Jump seat.. a poll.
Curious, after reading a few posts on here and other forums, it would seem that some are pre-disposed to deny a jump seat to a pilot strictly because of where they work.. i.e. Skybus, or Virgin USA..
Putting Go-Jets aside, would you as a captain deny j/s to anyone who wasn't specifically listed on the scab list, or not in the CASS database? Please, let's try to keep this civil, and just stick to the topic without getting off on tangents. just to be clear... I was hinting at "Based on his employer" not behavior.. so Skybus, Virgin America, JetBlue, etc.. As I've read from a few here and elsewhere that they would not allow them on due to where they work. |
That is a bit of an open ended question, I so far have only denied jumpseat to scab list pilots. But I suppose if the non scab list pilot was behaving in a unacceptable or inappropriate manner I would deny him or her a jumpseat as well. I just haven't ever seen anything warranting that. All jumpseat riders that I have seen except for the scabs of course have been very acceptable.

I would simply say that it's the Captains discretion to extend the privilege and courtesy of riding in the cockpit jumpseat.

You sound like a moderator! In all seriousness, this sounds really good to me. Name calling or insulting another member will only get your post deleted.
Interesting results so far btw.. |

Of course, I'd deny it to a drunk, or a ill mannered pilot, even if he was the president of ALPA. |
Well, this might be different, but I was jumpseating AFTER being diverted to another base on my last leg. Company would not positive space me home from there, only to my base so I jumpseated from there home ( this was CAL ). The flight was WIDE open ( 35 PAX ) on a 73 with 4 in 1st class. The FA put me in 1st and as we were pushing back, 2 FA'scame to me and said the CA said " if he wants to sit in 1st class, he can pay for it!! " come to find out, hes a scab, NO SCABS in my jumps seat if I have anything to say about it!!!!!!!!!!
