If they are denying then I am more suspect. Just can't believe anything these guys say. Even as a long time UAL pilot I am of the thinking that if it was to take place the Delta name would be a better moniker versus what was mentioned in the press release.

With the news that this is heating up due to transition of government leaders this may actually hold water. I know DL has said they would be a buyer, this may be something along the lines of DL buying and using the UAL name if the press release was correct. However, I doubt this is a done deal in any manner.

Again, the DL folks are a good group of people and I hope the best for all, with or without this talk of merger.

Only two groups benifit from this. Execs. and Stockholders. God help employees.
Not that it matters but UAL's debt as reported in the last Q was 12B versus your number of 18B.

www.sec.gov

Go to Companies and other filers.

Type in the CIK space the hedge funds number 1337183.

They own 3,000,000. of DAL and 5,600,000. of UAUA. They have won on both ends! Genius.

There is no merger. Only manipulating the stock. They got nailed a while back on insider trading. Outrageous.

Well, FWIW, it's good to know the hedge fund people feel they are getting screwed too!

I am glad it's not only the employees and retirees getting screwed. Maybe the hedge fund folks know something the average "Joe" doesn't know. Hmmmmm......Should one sell, sell, sell?

Default Delta Air Lines Pilots Union Responds to Pardus Comments

November 14, 2007

Atlanta – Captain Lee Moak, master chairman of the Delta Air Lines pilots union, represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA), responds to comments by Pardus Capital Management LP regarding Delta's role in consolidation by issuing the following statement:

"Today’s Wall Street Journal article discusses a letter from hedge fund Pardus Capital Management LP to Delta's senior executives encouraging a merger between Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

"The Delta pilots' union is aware of the recent overtures made by Pardus and other hedge fund managers who see value in the 'financial transaction' aspect of a consolidating event such as a merger, often without regard for the long-term consequences to the corporations, the employees, the traveling public or the communities we serve.

"Many analysts have suggested that airline industry consolidation is inevitable. The Delta pilots are not opposed to a rational and sensible consolidation scenario. The 'right' merger opportunity could draw our support and result in a successful merger. However, we are not interested in a transaction just for transaction’s sake.

"It is crucial that all parties involved understand this very important point, that the Delta pilots will be critical participants from the beginning in any consolidation discussion and potential resultant event, not an afterthought to be considered at a later date. Any consolidating event which involves the Delta pilots will not happen without our active participation and consent."

Founded in 1931, ALPA represents 60,000 pilots at 41 airlines in the U.S. and Canada. ALPA represents approximately 7,000 active DAL pilots. Visit the ALPA website at http://www.alpa.org and the Delta pilots' website at www.deltapilots.org.

Bingo. This hedge fund is using the media to play the stock.

Maybe this is why we (at Delta) have new planes painted in "United-esque" paint schemes. If done right this could be a strong union. But I would sure hate to lose the Delta name. Nothing against United. But come on.... it's "Big-D" were talking about.

well let's do some math here:

spreding a rumor about a company you own shares in[/I][/B]

(pardus owns 7million delta shares that went up 77cents

total profit 5390000

the effect of previous rumor on another company you own shares in

(pardus owns 5.6 million shares of UAL stock that went up 67cents

total profit 375200

making $9142000 for spreading a false rumor while drinking 30 year old scotch with two rusian hookers on your privatre jet:

(pardus owns a private jet and it is rumored their managers fancy scotch and rusian hookers)

priceless

For everything else there is Airline pilot central, where you can spread rumors without making any money ( the 30 year old scotch and the rusian hookers are on you)
