Heck, if you talk to BB on the first day, he can work with the training scheduling folks and delay your training a couple of weeks until you move. They will bend over backwards for you. At the very least, ask him what he recommends.

They want you to be 100% focused on training--they'd rather know about it now than later if it distracts you during training.

Indeed, they will work with your situation.

Many leadership folks stopped by my class to say hello and every one said:
"if you have something going on please tell us, we'll work with you. We want you to completely focus on your training and if there is something else on your mind it'll be hard to do".
They will delay your airplane training, pull you out (retaining you seniority number of course) a lot of times with pay too.
No questions asked, no blacklists, no "he is not a company man" reputations, no psychological warfare like "do you realize how much money we spend on training a pilot".

Very refreshing, I have never been treated like that. Delta is a great employer.
Welcome on board!

After 7 months on the sh-tty Florida market, we finally sold our house during indoc. I needed to close on the house and move early in OE, right after the sims. I went to the OE scheduler 6 weeks prior (during indoc) and told them what days I needed. I got the "I'll try, but no promises" answer. 6 weeks later, after multiple personal visits/phone calls/emails to the OE scheduler, and a personal visit with the fleet captain (who said he couldn't do anything for me and to talk to the OE scheduler), I was still sitting at "maybe". On the Friday before the Monday the movers showed up, I had my new-guy meeting with the chief pilot. He said "anything we can do to help you out?" Why yes, there is...his answer (100% true): "if you haven't heard anything by Monday (the day the movers were supposed to be there!), give me a call and I'll see what I can do". YGTBSM...I almost left my ID on his desk I was so p-ssed off.

It worked out, but I didn't find out until Sat that I would actually have those days off. Bottom line...everyone talked a good game, but it was like pulling teeth to get it to actually work out...and at the very last minute. Work it early and don't let up.

That's disappointing. I'm sorry to hear you had to go through that. I can imagine how stressful it was. Your story definitely purged some kool-aid from my system.

You are right, there is a huge difference between words and action. I would have hoped the company would man up for you. I don't exactly feel motivated to go above and beyond for folks who don't live up to their promises.

Just curious how long ago that was. I know they changed out OE schedulers at some point and from what I have seen she has been very accommodating. I didn't ask for much, only a couple of specific days, but it was a simple task. I know a couple other people that needed a week off after their LOE and was granted with little hassle. Both times it never made it past the OE scheduler to get handled.

Hopefully they fixed the glitch...

This was Jan/Feb of this year. Same scheduler still works there.
