I have no doubt that the shlep-rocks running the NWA union will delay the SLI long enough that I'll be junior to those future hires at DAL. That's what a 2000 DOH at NWA will probably get me. That, or another furlough.

You see 32 per aircraft due to the fact that most of these LR's are doing 12-16 hr legs. We staff two full crews for that. It is these same great work rules that are going to upgrade a ton for NWA FO's to CA, and a ton of DC-9CA's to Whale CA's overnight.

I don't know where 32 came from but the numbers I keep hearing are actually 64 pilots per plane. 16 crews per plane, and those are 4 pilot crews.

During indoctrination, we asked about staffing levels, they said 32 pilots (16 Capts 16 FOs).

I wish it were 64 pilots, but it is 32 and that's straight out of Barry Wilbur's mouth. You can hear it on the latest Flight Ops 411 podcast. 16 crews/plane, with a crew being 1 CA and 1 FO. You can find a link to the podcast from the Flight Ops page on Deltanet.

If you are getting 18 hours per day from your international aircraft at UPS that equals 2200 block hours for 4 pilots or 27.5 pilots per aircraft at 80 hours a month. Add in vacation, training ect.. and you should be over 30 pilots. 777 are running about 19 block hours a day at Delta. The numbers don't seem far off for manning.

Were manned at around 15 pilots per plane when I added the ANC domicle. Approx. 550 pilots / by 36 airframes. Way low, but we have alot of guys working over and beyond the call of duty. Accepting OT and JA's.

Also, doesn't Delta when they go over 12 hours have 2 Captains and two FO's? This is what they had going to DXB. At UPS we'll have just one Captain, which stinks for upgrades.

The number we are hearing at Fed Ex is 20 Crews/aircraft (40 pilots/aircraft). 5 guys on the 16+ hr flights.

Correct, anything over 12 hrs is a full double crew of 2 CAs and 2 FO.s 8-12 is 1 CA and 2 FOs.

Is it true that NWA now staffs 1 CA and 3 FO's? I saw this somewhere but found it hard to believe... when my dad retired off the 400 from there, they staffed 2 CAs and 1 FO at a minimum for the 8-12 hour augment, and 2 CAs and 2 FOs for the double crew. Not trying to throw mud, just researching.
