Educate yourself. Syriana was financed by Mark Cuban. While he has been a very good team owner for the Dallas Mavericks, the rest of his business dealings and money expenditures are easily documented and very left wing. Mark Cuban even put Dan Rather's career on life support on his cable network. The same Dan Rather that reported a story that everyone knew was fictitious in the 2004 election campaign. Mark Cuban also financed and exucutive produced a film called "Redacted." This was marketed as a supposed documentary on the Fallujah battle. It was later ferreted out as a fictitious "what could have happened" story spun with an incredibly negative slant against our troops and this nation. Free speech is what it is and you are free to support this kind of drivel. Me? I have friends in the military and don't particulary care to support outright slander of their character. That's just me though.
Additionally, I see no evidence that he was the primary financier for the movie Syriana. He did finance Redacted via Magnolia Pictures, however, Syriana is a Warner Bros. film and was not financed by Cuban.

Mark Cuban has endorsed Republican mayor Bloomberg of NYC for President, so I'd say he's definitely not left-leaning.

if you haven't already seen this movie, see it.. I can't think of a better documentary of how things are done in the world of big business, big oil and puppet governments

"It's running out, and 90% of what's left is in the Middle East"
Uh, what? That's certainly news to Russia, Brazil, Canada, Venezuela, Mexico, etc.
I saw the movie, and frankly, I find the thought that the "evil Americans" are assassinating enlightened oil princes who only want to bring reform, democracy and enlightenment to the middle east offensive and borderline delusional.
Oil is a complicated subject. This movie is a nice little story, but it is very, very much fiction with an anti-American bias.

Syriana was financed by Cuban and his independent film company. Warner Brothers bought the rights to the film later. Another film bought by a major studio from Cuban's film company was the semi-documentary on CBS's news department's (Edward Murrow) showdown with Joseph McCarthy in the 50's. I believe it was titled "Good Night and Good Luck." It was also purchased by Warner Brothers. Bloomberg may be Republican, but even he makes Hillary look a tad bit right leaning. Parties don't necessarily ensure a candidate's ideology. Bill Richardson is a Democrat, but he tends to be of a conservative ideology. Does that mean the Democrat party is now the home of conservatism? As you pointed out in a previous post, most of em are the same. Point is you have to research and read a fellows works to get a feel for which direction he comes from and where he is headed.

Allow me to reiterate my rant that it is absolutely asinine for one to base his/her arguments of the geopolitical landscape (or anything else) based on a movie, produced for entertainment and with the the sole purpose of making a buck.
We as a democracy are in deep sh!t if the gullible public follows like lost sheep even the least compelling, least factual and most ludicrous assertions simply because they're on a movie screen.
Think for yourself, people!!!
Rant complete.

Reality is my friend, America isn't perfect, sure we're probably more perfect than most, but we're far from living the Christian message.
Yes, we do these things, and yes we do them in the name of oil. Study the history of the Middle East, the creation of the various "Kingdoms" and the British occupation, followed by American transition of power in the region.
Study it for yourself. Don't just take the Fox news or Rush Limbaugh version as Gospel.
Delta pilots are known to be educated and worldly people and my experience with the ones I knew is that this is true.

edit: BTW.. WhizWheel, this guy, Chris Mathews in my book is a far better independent guy who doesn't take crap like BO'.. At least he's well informed about what he's arguing about.. BO' is embarrassing sometimes.
