Duke, I have to agree with the general theme of Lifizgud's statement.. the truth in many cases lies in a vast middle gray area, and not with the ax grinders.. Wile I much prefer Obermann's editorials to O'Reily, I think they're both in general filled with hyperbole.

 

Furthermore, there are numerous instances of ill treatment of both American and German soldiers during WWII, but for the most part it was civil and dignified, especially when the capturers were Heer and not Waffen SS, but the truth is for the most part the captured solder was treated well or at least by Geneva convention standards.

The exception's to this were in the Russian theater and in South East Asia.

O'Reilly said on the radio today that oil prices will soon put the world into a depression. I haven't heard his position on the peak oil vs. oil speculators issue, but I do know he vilifies big oil.

I see this current environment as the beginning of the end of the "oil age", just like the bronze age or the iron age all came to an end via new discoveries. The only difference is that the oil age was relatively short and, well, sweet I guess. I always thought the internal combustion engine was the way to go. Guess not.

Then again Olberman has had a HUGE h***-on for O'Reilly since he stepped out of sports reporting. He is just as much of a boob as many times as O'Reilly.

 

Like I said WhizWheel.. you want a tough guy who doesn't take crap from politicians and hold their feet to the fire, do a few youtube searches on Chris Matthews.. I like that guy.

 

This movie was a German film with German actors, not sure who that Hitler was. I've seen the Anthony Hopinks film, and it was great. I only wish they had more of the famous scenes and yelling matches between him and Guderian.. (Panzer Leader is a great read on that topic).

The Heer is the regular Army, made mostly of a Prussian officer core steeped in military traditions. These guys in many cases were more gentlemanly than the Americans or Brits.
