#61
Tomorrow on a flight from the east coast to SEA I hope they sell 600 drinks to cover my business class airfare(1200.00) from a company designated commercial scheduled on USAirways. I manged to get it switched to Northwest ...400 cheaper WITH a MOVIE and FREE DRINKS for all on board.

The thing with the water is, that it is bottled water. Bottled water costs almost as much as other non-alch. beverages (a little cheaper, but costs none the less). I believe the pottable water is still free though. Other places give free water because its pretty much filtered fosset water, that you dont have the luxury of getting on an airplane. Correct me if im wrong.
SWA succeeds at being thoroughly condescending in advertisements but insanely successful in every other possible fashion.

I'm furloughed from a little experiment that showed people will pay for items a` la carte that other airlines claimed were included for free.
Southwest is not run by idiots - the cost of the two checked bags, soft drinks and peanuts are not free - those "extras" are included in the pricing.
The legacy carriers' hot meals of yesterday were included in the pricing as well.
Wish we all had the airline executives of yesterday.
C.R. Smith would take out a full page ad and explain his airlines cost structure to the flying public:
"Our infrastructure allows our passengers and their checked baggage to connect from many hundred different cities worldwide with one ticket purchase.
As a result, we do charge more than some domestic airlines on certain U.S. city pairs.
However, for that additional cost on those certain U.S. city pairs, you still earn mileage for free travel to destinations our competitors cannot reach."

It may not be true but a Delta flight attendant told me that Delta gets all their soda and snacks for free, all they pay is the shipping fees. The give it for free to advertise their products, like the Biscof cookies. The funny thing is the fight attendant told me that Delta was complaining that they had to pay for shipping. It could be true, Coke is out of ATL.
