My vote is that this is a flamebait poll.

They'll make it in some shape or form. If they ever get rid of the 717's they would become a prime target for WN. Now if you want to make a poll about Frontier...that's a different story, I do hope they make it, but I just don't see it with Southwest doubling their presence in Denver.

All this poll does is to add anxieties to a great pilot (and other employees) group. Personally I think they’ll be just fine either on their own or will merge with another company such as SWA. Disclaimer – former Citrus driver myself.

They need to get rid of all the 717s.....they are a dog on fuel when you need an ALT on a MCO/MSP flight. Sadly FL uses the 717 as if it were an RJ.

FLs management currently is not capable of running an airline with the amount of jets they have at this point. FL also needs to depend less on ATL as a hub...ATL and NYC are killers when a drop of rain is in the METAR...I think if FL wants to make a firm stance I think they need to get a cooperative with SWF and develop that jewel out.

And thats all I have to say about that.

We have 87 of the 156 717's built....I don't see anyone wanting to take them off our hands anytime soon. It's the backbone of the fleet and when the transition from the DC-9 to the 717 began back in 1999, it completely changed the company into the success it has become today.

I think we have enough $$$ right now to make it...obviously that's subjet to change but I like our chances.

everybody considers themselves an expert on everything and very easily give advice and the world changes so rapidly that no one can predict anything. the only certainty is death...other than that nothing is predictable,

I hope you guys are smart, and beat the poll that the USA power is shifting!!!

Count me in among those who thinks Airtran might survive. Airtran needs to optimize its strength and a change of its management team. When all the legacy carriers are cutting back on domestic capacity, now is the chance for a carrier like Airtran to step in grab the opportunity instead of letting it all go to regionals or to foreign carriers.

Every time I tried to jumpseat on Airtran, they have been courteous and accomodating. Quite unlike UAL. I know several people at Airtran and I think they are a great bunch of pilots and flight crew. I will be very sad indeed if Airtran goes out of business. It would be really depressing to think that's a possibility when Airtran just earlier this year looked so promising.

Wait a second, I thought the 717 was much more fuel efficient than the 737?

MCO-MSP is one thing....ATL-SAV...BWI-MCO...ATL-PHF...ATL-MCO...ATL-MEM...MDW-BOS, ATL-CLT, etc ,etc are different stories...not exactly a fuel hog on the routes it's meant to fly all the time.
