Absolutely ridiculous poll. Oil prices flucturating, the economy in flux, the entire industry in flux, on top of a million other variables... - how would you expect anyone to know anything beyond next month? And those who cast vote are nothing more than wild speculation. Anyone want to vote on the exact value of my 401K at the end of next year?
AV8, 23% was the vote tally for Airtran not sticking around.
I'd like to suggest adding this vote to the poll:
"I have absolutely no idea, and neither do you."
That'd get 100%.

AMR will buy Airtran after the NW/Delta deal goes through. AMR will not lose the title of largest airline in the world. Their big heads won't allow it, so they'll buy something... AirTran for example.

From: Gave up. Staying retired.
I see AirTran surviving and picking up parts of what's left from some of the others that will fail.

American is not good at this sort of thing. TWA aside, they just screw up or dismantle the carrier they buy. Reno Air, AirCal, both gone and their routes abandoned, only to have Southwest move right in to those routes and make money.

St.Louis used to be TWA's mainstay hub, now you can sunbath on the runways since it too was dismantled.
The irony is that some of Air Tran's fuel-efficient 717s were former TWA and I'm guess 60-80 Air Tran pilots are former TWA.
Ok, back to Happy Hour,
