While I would support a national seniority list, I question its implementation. ALPA carriers only? What about career regional pilots, what would happen with them, after all they are alpa too right? What about military guys? Would this affect monthly bidding? Who would benefit? When is the magic time when you are considered part of the natl sen list.????
What about the previously integrated groups? ... DAL/Western, NWA/Republic, USair/Piedmont/PSA/ etc... How would all that be effected? Or is it affected?

I was hired at COEX in 2000 and we became ALPA in 2001. I was hired at CAL in late 2007. What do I get credit for? Philosophically speaking..

I know there are no clear answers for any of this but what is everyone thinking? What is UALPA thinking(how was the proposal worded)

It won't work. I don't know how they worded it, but I'm sure they would not include regionals or they would have a separate regional seniority list.? These are major pilots trying to save their jobs/positions/seniority, so why would they put a 20 year regional guy above them. You know what I'm saying. Say no to UAL merger and the national list.

Just looked at the ALPA saturday blastmail. Apparently they did manage to get a resolution passed to form a committee to look into a national seniority list.

UAL can have date of hire if we can have date of birth.

ALPA’s Executive Board convened September 9 for its 103rd regular meeting to discuss the Association’s new strategic planning efforts in preparation for the October Board of Directors meeting. Executive Board members also heard presentations concerning new ALPA initiatives and a report from the AFL-CIO about its grassroots political education campaign.

....

The Executive Board passed a resolution that will form a committee to develop a national seniority protocol and ways to implement one. Look for more information on this ALPA initiative soon.

So what did UAL give up at LHR in order to provide CO with that slot?

I think redeye was distinguishing the fact that an Executive Board meeting and the Board of Directors meeting is very different (they are in fact different but I think that is still splitting hairs in my opinion).

The UAL proposed resolution was presented at the EXECUTIVE Board meeting......cool redeye?!

Yeah, they can take that proposal somewhere else. You wanna see how quickly ALPA will get kicked off property everywhere if they try this. I'm not going to pay for managements mishaps at UAL or any other airline, sorry folks, but the time to try a national seniority list came and went about 10 years ago. They're only pitching this because there might be chance (based on UAL current financial state) that there will be more folks on the street. All because they have a management team that have driven a good company into the ground. Well folks, sorry, but I'm not giving up my seat, only to end up worse 10 years down the line, because we didn't approach the problem (management and the airline structure) from the right angle.

Rant over, carry on.

Yes!! You are soooo secure over there at XJT. I have heard nothing of a national list, but calling UAL's financial state into question from over at XJT.....that is comical. At $.26 per share, what is the market cap at XJT?
