Pilots should be responsible for their own actions, not managements. If you are a Midwest pilot, are you saying it's your own fault for not taking enough pay and benefit concessions to remain competitive? Are you saying it's your fault management didn't have a better business model?

Is it your fault Midwest management stuck with the MD-80 with no other future plans and failed to predict the price of oil?
Midwest Airlines announced their intent to ground the twelve remaining McDonnell Douglas MD-80 jets in its fleet. According to the company, the MD-80 "is a very fuel inefficient airplane and at the cost of fuel today it's just become economically infeasible to operate these planes."
Are you going to accept the 170 contract offered to you by your own management or will you stand firm on your soapbox by refusing to fly anything less than an MD-80 and continue blaming all of your problems on RAH pilots?

Glad to hear you finally understand what I've been saying....

That's not true.

The crew in Herndon feels very badly about the plight of the Midwest pilots. They'll feel just as badly about the next 5 carriers who suffer similar fate. You have no idea how stressful it is to rake in $150,000 to $450,000 in pay and bennies in Eastern Virginia while those you represent go down the crapper. It means they must find new ways to squeeze the survivors for more cash to support those high end lifestyles as well as maintaining the sweetness of the Guyana juice so many eagerly gulp down.

We all must feel for the stresses of the wealthy Virgina fatcats, just as we do about the examples of those they watch flounder.

It's truly tough out there folks.................for both the rich and the screwed.

I am not the one flying someone elses flights, the republic pilots are. Those who consciously bid MKE are basically scabs in my book.

The price of oil has nothing to do with this. American flies 300+ MD80's, Allegiant makes money with them.

I will stand firm not roll over like some little lap dog. I will vote NO on anything where I am making less than what I was making. Our suck a$$ management offered us FO's 50+% pay cuts in their initial offering. F that! You call that a soapbox, I call that a principle.

If it can happen to our airplanes, it can happen to yours. Cabotage goes away and foreignors will be flying your birds too.

Looks like you are ready to move on to another career. What are your plans?

Already on my original career #1 thanks to Uncle Timmy's "plan".

Make no mistake, enemy #1 is Mr. Hoeksema and his outdated, outmoded "labor is the enemy" mantra. Republic is simply his enabler in his latest scheme.

Then again Mark Z is saying we'll all be 190 captains with this "70" he keeps mentioning. Yeah right! He should pass the ganja he's been smoking......

The only thing ALPA will do is give you a membership to AIRINC so you will be updated on the lowest paying jobs.. Good luck..

Keep telling yourself that as your own generation runs our country into the ground. Keep up the good work! Stereotypical blanket statements are so much fun to throw around on the internet! Regardless, I doubt there were more than a handful "Generation Y'ers" at RAH when the last contract was voted on over 5 years ago.

Agreed 110%. Timmy and the gang sold the company down the river. Republic was only the buyer. To blame anyone else for this screwjob is a travesty of justice.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you and all the brethren at Midwest.
