I am in the AT "pool", but not sure what I'll do if/when I get the call.

If AT calls you I would politely tell them to take me out of the "pool" and never associate myself with this $hithole company ever again. I would not wish this place on my worst enemy. This company "is" and always "will be" a stepping stone to something better. Reminder to all you guys and gals waiting on AirTran......our management threatened to FIRE all probationary pilots if our union did not allow them to keep all the old timers in the traing dept. Why would you put yourself through this? You will have a better quality of life and pay (yes pay) if you stay at Comiar, ASA, Colgen, insert regional here. Upgrade is gone......10 year FO $79/hr. Jump on in...water is great!

Wow! pretty harsh in hard times. I thought AT was a half way decent place to be.

Hey 5th. If you hate it that bad quit and do something else. Mgmt vs. Union is a way of life in the airline industry. The last contract was negotiated with much quicker upgrade times and the payscale reflects that. Do you think the other regional payscales you referenced will stand in this economy?

Remember when that same Mgmt bought 73's at the bottom of the market and negotiated fixed operating expenses for avionics, landing gear & brakes and APUs for ten years as well. If you were there then when they announced that purchase in the Airport with Boeing were you happy then?

Mgmt unfortunately takes the same approach with the pilot group as they do a vendor. Pilots are contractors/employees who provide a service under the representation of a Union. Call your union reps if you are not happy. I did.

Lastly please list all the other pilot groups that voted to take a paycut to prevent furloughs after 911..... I wish other pilot groups in the industry had that same level of solidarity and concern for their entire seniority list.

Just giving you some food for thought. Happy New Year!

*Full Disclosure*

I left in Sep 2006 for family reasons because I could not move to ATL. I miss flying there every day and face the possibility of furlough at my current job.

Can you list all the other Managements that threatened to fire all probationary pilots to keep a select few in the training dept.? Pretty messed up if you ask me... also pretty selfish of the retired "guys" (term used loosley) in the training department to not even voice an objection to that threat.

I was there for 6 months before leaving...... I have never been treated so poorly by a company in my life......

Chautauqua didn't just threaten to do it. They did it. Post-9/11, they fired the Saab drivers out of seniority so they could avoid a training event when they were ramping up the ERJ and parking the 340's.

Not making any apologies for the AT management team. I am also a AT furloughee who left with a bad taste. But, it's important to remember they threatened to do it.

Default Rumor

Not to get hopes up but I heard possibly 120 by summer.
That said. I wonder how many will actually come back. I am futher behind than when I started here. I think much more should have been done to avoid the furlow all together. I like the people I fly with but me need leadership both in the union and company. Tell me which why we should be pulling and why and i will join you by pulling the same way

Why do you say it takes 10 years to upgrade? My buddy has been there ~6 years and he's in the left seat...

I left in 2006 because I always wanted to do international flying but while there (almost 2 years) I had a great time. A bunch of great folks - to imply someone might be better off staying at Colgan in my opinion is simply insane...

If AirTran's policy is to be the first Muslim-free airline, would it help or hurt business?
