Not to get off topic, but let me see if I've got this story straight...
2 Federal Air Marshals notified the FBI of the "suspicious behaviour". The FBI escorted them off of the plane, interviewed them, and then released them. Airtran gave them a full refund and said they were welcome to fly with them again.
How is this getting blamed on the airline?
Oh yeah... and the passenger is an attorney.

I'm not an attorney, but I'm thinking that the airline could find itself in a civil suit for refusing to carry these passengers after they had been cleared by the FBI. Again just an opinion, and that assumes that the airline offered them a refund only, and told them that they were not welcome on the flight.

Why do you say it takes 10 years to upgrade? My buddy has been there ~6 years and he's in the left seat...
I left in 2006 because I always wanted to do international flying but while there (almost 2 years) I had a great time. A bunch of great folks - to imply someone might be better off staying at Colgan in my opinion is simply insane...

2 737's for 2009 and no further deliveries scheduled until 4Q '11/1Q '12.
Upgrades now only due to attrition.
Also, lots of Union vs. Management strife at AT now. I think most AT folks would agree QOL has suffered greatly in the last two years and morale is very low.
On the recent issue, I support the call of the flight crew 100% to remove them from the flight. Where AT made a huge mistake was not immediately putting them on another flight (business class) once the FBI cleared them. That you can credit to the Customer Service reps in DCA who are not allowed to think for themselves.

I'd figure the right thing to do, on the airline's behalf, would have been to rebook the passengers on the next available flight or rebook them on another carrier. After the FBI cleared the passengers, technically the airline had no right to refuse carriage, unless there was a credible security threat. Either case that would probable fall back to the FBI or TSA.

From the AT press release:
"Later in the day, six of the nine detained passengers approached the customer service counter and asked to be rebooked to Orlando. At the time, the airline had not been notified by the authorities that the passengers were cleared to fly and would not rebook them until receiving said clearance. One passenger in the party became irate and made inappropriate comments. The local law enforcement officials came over and escorted the passengers away from the gate podium."

That was when AT was accepting 9-12 A/C per year and growing at 20% per year. 2 737's for 2009 and no further deliveries scheduled until 4Q '11/1Q '12. Upgrades now only due to attrition. I see, thanks for clarification. However, '10-year upgrade' might have been a slight exaggeration wouldn't you say?

I agree, the crew did exactly what they're supposed to do. Bad thinking afterwards for sure knowing how hungry for blood the ACLU lawyers are...

Dont be fooled... 10 year upgrade and this place blows! Atlanta is a ghetto.

In and around the airport--very ghetto but what major city with a very busy airport isn't? You couldn't pay me to live in Riverdale.
Suburbs up to the north are a different story--very nice! Marietta, Vinings, Alpharetta, Roswell, etc..I'm in Vinings and it's a 20 min shot to the parking lot.
Newnan and Peachtree City to the South are great too.
