Rumor about SOC. Has anyone heard this?

Johns,
I think it is a different PBS vendor. As you know the point is that the more senior line holder you are, the better trips you get and you can hopefully avoid getting "unstacked" and "denied" of your preferences.

But isn't that what seniority is all about? I hear senior guys complaining about junior guys getting good trips, and junior guys complaining about only getting the crummy trips. Which is it? ( I think a lot of has to do with how well you understand the system.)
I guess we could go to the system the FAs have where they all bid and get trips, even the new hires, and then the company places RSV days on their line also. Nothing like having 20 years seniority and being forced to fly reserve days. (For the NWers, when you hear DL FAs talking about A days, that's what they mean.)

It's significantly less than a $650M note, or the $1.6B DAL would have needed to fund our now defunct DB plan which was only funded at approximately 30% when we entered BK. Good for the NWA guys that they were able to save their pension, they earned it, but let's not forget that it was a differrent plan than the DAL pilot DB plan, with different assets and liabilities. Yes it stinks that the DAL pilot DB plan was terminated, that plan was also earned, but it was going to be terminated with or without LOA51. With that in mind, I'm glad we were able to get something for it, $650M, MPPP $$$ rolled over into an IRA, a fair flat DC plan and probable PC-5 distributions.

That is absolutely what seniority is all about and with PBS, IMO, it is much more important to have some seniority in category if you are concerned about getting the days off and/or trips you want. As we have all seen, just because you are a regular line holder, doesn't mean you will not get unstacked or denied even in non-holiday months.
Don't get me wrong, if I was that concerned, I would bid equipment to maximize my seniority. I'm happy where I'm at! Although I do think that our reserve system abrogates seniority but we voted for it!
Sometimes I don't quite understand the system. I see how it works from a logical standpoint but sometimes I think it will bite them. I just tried to swap a 3 day for a 6 day trip and it was denied for "capped reserve days." Only one of the days on the 3day was 1 below the required. All the days on the 6 day were dead even. Where is the logic in that? Oh well.

I just spoke with several of the 4th floor types involved in the the process. Same timeframe mentioned. They really hope to get it done by the end of the year but going to be a lot of work.
