I risk being jumped on by some of my fellow Old Delta guys here, but I agree with sailingfun and Ferd here. Delta guys did much better seniority wise than the NWA guys did. On day one I moved up .015%. Five years I'm up 1.1%. 10 years I'm up 5.7%. 15 years I'm up 6.2%. 20 years I'm up 4.6%. This is all compared to what my relative seniority would have been based on no merger. Personally I came out very good. Not all Delta guys came out as well, and some will take a huge hit in QOL due to the no fences on the aircraft. I completely understand why they are not completely happy.

So, old NWA guys are ****ed about seniority and old Delta guys are ****ed about the fence issue. I'll probably get displaced out of my base in the short term and will never see the QOL in my base that I would have had we not had the merger. You know what, there is nothing I can do about it so I don't care. Look at the positves you gained and life will be much better. NWA guys have more options on more widebodies and Delta guys got a little bit better relative seniorty. We're both lucky, move on.

Look, I'm not the base evaluator that you seem to be -- my college didn't offer that major -- but, who died and made you a city/base judge? Do you know how insulting that is? Do you really think that Atlanta, New York, Cincinnati, Salt Lake and Los Angeles are better than Detroit, Minneapolis, Memphis, Seattle and Anchorage? If so, in what repects? What are your criteria? For who? But, before you answer maybe you should consider that a lot of your new brethren live in and were born and raised in these same places. (I haven't flown with a FO who didn't have Minneapolis or Detroit ties in months)

In determining what you mean by the word "better," I hope you consider them and realized that they can apply the same thoughts against your hometown. So, I guess I'm saying that you "better bases" argument is and always will be pretty weak. If you lived in Minot and Northwest had a base there you would be saying that NWA had the best base in the world. So, maybe you should lose that argument because everything is always viewed from the eye of the beholder.

A Delta 91' hire lost 3% and is now behind a NWA 95 hire. The "Leap Frogging" occurred on both sides.

As tired as I am of hearing DL new hires complain about how they might get screwed (nothing has even happened yet). They need to take a step back an realize they were doing pretty d.amn good before the merger and they are doing pretty d.amn good now as well (compared to the 3% that guys that have been here almost 18 years lost).

Blaming this merger and NWA pilots on possibly getting pushed down or kicked off your widebody is ridiculous...it probably would have happend anyway.

Ok, good nights sleep and my mozam beak has fallen off. Sorry to all for my rants especially Buzz and Jack.

The merger is nothing any of us wanted, we are just the guys who get to sweep up after the parade that the money guys and masters of the universe threw. But, with that said, I reall do believe that in the long run we really are better off together vs apart, especially for the next 3-5 years.

I've ranted about this before but I'll bore everyone again. Old NWA guys lives will change completely from uniforms to checklist usage to how we commute home.....nothing will be as before, and some will take it worse than others. Junior Delta guys may be off equipment and out of bases that even older Delta guys have said is odd in their history. Some will take that better than others. If we can just hold on and hire, that will eleminate most concerns.

Enjoy the holiday...........I'm tak'en joemomma to breakfast. I promise to drink less coffee! (and no Dos XXs with my mexican food)
