Southwest Raises the bar

Speaking of Codeshare....I was behind a WestJet -700 this morning in FORT LAUDERDALE! That's a long way from home for them.

I doubt there is any connection between WestJet flying to Fort Lauderdale and the proposed codeshare.

We also have a bunch of Canadians that drive across the border to BUF and DTW to get on SWA flights to head south. Are they now going to log onto Southwest.com and book their flights on us only to be carried on Westjet. It will be interesting (if this code share survives) to see if we have reduced loads in BUF, DTW, and SEA.

Last two captains I flew with could have cared less about code share. One talked about the raise he was getting, the other and I quote" I could care less about code share". Basically telling me to my face I don't care about the junior guys.
Not all guys are like this and glad to see you guys are here learning the real life at SWA. It took me about 5 years, you guys will learn real fast.
Hope you guys get a class date real soon so you can hang out with the shinny, happy, people at the GO.
P.S. Have you noticed how the SWA captains that post here have almost gone silent.

Don't worry about the those pesky uninformed kool-aid drinking Captains! They are all monitoring the situation and will probably comment when it is appropriate. For the time being I for one will let those who wish to whine and engage in "what ifs" continue to argue about something we don't have hard data on. I certainly am getting more entertainment just lurking about and reviewing past posts by those who appear to be whining.

For those in the pool (and those wishing to be here), I am sick of our unhappy employees p....g in your pool water. They are telling you it "sux" here at SWA. It may not be perfect but it doesn't s.......! Reality for some is just different. I believe there are some still upset about age 60, "their luck" and how the "world" has dealt them a raw deal. Well too bad. Things have changed and SWA isn't the same as it was 20 yrs. ago.
That being said, I to wish to see the wording on this TA so that I can make an informed decision for myself and my family. Engaging in conjecture is of no use without that hard data I mentioned earlier. When available present the facts (or in some peoples world - opinions) and quit describing things as if DOOM and GLOOM have settled over SWA.
I for one am not buying it!Now where did I put my koolaid.

I'm glad to see that you are engaging in the thread, by at least being here it shows that you care about SWA. By having an opinion about something that will effect my career, I would not consider that whining.
For your hard data; When I was at COEX, continental's scope allowed for us to fly 59 seat aircraft and below, I was hired in Feb. 99 at Continental, two and a half years later and 275 RJ's, no class date, so off to SWA where its happening again.

Drink up!
P.S. I will be voting NO on any contract with code share, tell me one airline were it has benefitted the pilot group.

), what should people be willing to give up to kill (if that is even possible) code shares.I've heard people talk about time limits on the code shares, but I could see a company always claiming "let us have it for just 5 more years" (just like an addict, if I may borrow Thinking Mans reference)
What angle can you take that would make the company give up the desire to have code shares? Short of walking, that is.
Thanks.

Brand name dilution and recognition. Just look at the Continental crash last week, ohh wait I mean Colgan Air. Or ATA going out of business with boatloads of SWA passengers stranded in PHNL. Since they bought their ticket at southwest.com, they are ****ed at us, not ATA.

ACE,
My views on the age 60 rule have been hashed and rehashed back and forth on this forum. If you are interested you can go back and read my posts on the subject (as I have read all of your posts). Basically I was for changing the rule when I was in my early 30's because it was the right thing to do. Did the rule changing benefit me? Probably not, but it was still the right thing to do.
If you think that I have the attitude that "I have mine" then you don't know me and I have always looked out for others (FO's included).
I do however, see a ME first attitude coming from you and those who are arguing similar points here on APC. If I am wrong than please educate me on what you have done for others. For your benefit I will state my position on codeshare - If a 737 can do it then SWA pilots should be flying it. Period!
