Small Community Airlines?

I don't want to be a pessimist but I'm not sure that operation can hold. I don't know what the subsidy pays on those EAS routes but I did do a little sniffing. Was recently flying the JS31 and 32 so it caught my attention. Forget whether the AC checks out or not. Consider it's ability to run the mission. There is a reason jetstreams are a mil and the BE1900 is 3 mil. Performance is weak on the 31 and it is not going to carry 19 people the 240 miles to Dallas (I forget what the initial route is supposed to be but it was 240nm anyway). Not in that Texas heat. a JS32 would be tough as well. So maybe 14...maybe. 14 times 99 bucks a head is 1400 bucks (if you sell 14 tickets. Lets just forget about 19) Over half of that is going to go to fuel leaving little for overhead. MX on those old british birds is not cheap either. They break every week and parts are not especially common in the states unless you know the guys I do and some of you do i'm sure. If that plane can't stay full and busy they will never be able to cover the fixed costs unless they can expand and justify 3 of those junkstreams running regularly. That's my thoughts. No doubt there will be a contract so make sure you put them under contract as well to continue to pay that full year even if they fold.

The J32EP would be the one to use it has a higher TOW than the 31. There are parts for these aircraft here in the states. The Jetstreams are good aircraft to use, remember that ACA and Trans States used a fleet of 32s and 41s and did very well with them. They do have a low operating cost, with a low fuel burn. I have done performance checks with the 32EP and find it will carry a 16 paxs & bags with no problem. The Beech 1900 is over priced and what ones are out there have high times on them. I would go with a 32EP but watch the route miles. Remember Texas is a Flat state so that should help.

Unbelievable. Why do I get the feeling that you're going to get hired on this one??If these guys are short on startup cash that they can't afford to pay decent wages, why don't they just make it 9 bucks an hour for CAs and pay for training for FOs? I'm sure people like this guy will show up anyways, refer to his last sentence.

Here today gone by morning.
Offering competitive salaries = Walmart greeters are paid about the same.
Flying state of the art aircraft = cheapest damn thing we could find because its cheaper to pay you a terrible wage than to find an aircraft with a working autopilot.
Dynamic work environment = 9 or more legs a day
Seeking talented individuals = looking to find pilots looking to risk their lives/livelihood to build time /desperate/naive people willing to work for less thinking it will pay off...eventually for some reason. ...Because you still have to have a legal right to work in the US even if it is Texas.

What makes an aircraft old? I have flown Boeings older than the Jetstreams. J32's built in 1991-1992 are not that old and many have very low cycles on them and are Ex-American Eagle aircraft. The 1900D's I've seen are high time just ask Great Lakes, they need more and can't find any that are good. EMB-120 or Saab 340 cost a lot more and if you only plan to carry 15, well the Jetstream is the way to go.
I do hope they plan on paying the crew better.

How can the pay rate they are offering be so "pathetic"??
I have worked for less.
Looks like a good rate to me and they seem to be up front on it being an entry level job. A job is a job, unless you are wanting a reason to stay home.
Where is the harm?
This was their add-

I've been watching this for a while now.
Halin has been there - the rest of you idiots should sit back and take pause at this fact.
That you don't shows what a pathetic bunch of morons are willing to bend over and take it again and again for the honor of claiming to be an airline pilot. You sicken me.
