I would have to disagree.
Take a chance on a job with Southwest verses a guaranteed job at Republic. To two companies and pilot groups don't even compare.
The Frontier pilots will be integrated into Southwest.

Not if the DAL/NWA merger is used as any precedent. The bottom 40 pilots on the list are all DAL-S pilots that were actually working, but deemed to have been hired AFTER the effective date of the merger. "Poolies" haven't "EARNED" anything, and are of even lower stature.

The majority retired with a better retirement then their Delta counterparts when looking at total compensation. Westen Annuity, Western B fund, Delta DB plan and Delta DC plan. The bankruptcy resulted in some loss of income for the Western retires but far less then the original Delta pilots because of the breakdown in how the money was paid and what the PBGC covered. Considering the state of the industry since 1986 when the purchase took place I am not sure how much better it could have been.

I have no doubt that Republic would get rid of the Airbuses, but they would replace them with E-190/195s like they are doing with Midwest. This is why an integrated seniority list with Republic pilots would be beneficial to Frontier pilots as Republic has done in the past with Shuttle America. That would guarantee them a future, however unfortunately, at a much lower wage unless they negotiate a better contract.

"Boost low-fare competition"! This is why mainline jobs continue to be lost (more at CAL soon). The blame game will soon shift from regionals who do the lost work of their manline partner's to LCC's that continue to eat up mainline jobs. Change you (unfortunately) have to believe in!

Southwest makes counter-bid for Frontier Airlines - Yahoo! Finance
Ok folks....simmer down.
One side of the sword has F9 possibly taking a significant pay cut, but keeping your jobs. The other side is getting liquidated and hoping to get a merged seniority list at WN. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY MERGER OF SENIORITY LIST AT WN!!!! (ITS A PIPE DREAM!)
Either way, F9 will not come out of this unscathed!
Dallas-based Southwest said Thursday it submitted a nonbinding bid of $113.6 million. Southwest hopes that making the bid will allow it to talk with Frontier and get information to help shape its final proposal.
Southwest said it faces an Aug. 10 deadline for submitting a binding bid. If there is more than one qualified bidder, an auction will be held the following day.

- I can not see F9 accepting this offer as it is only 5.6 mil more the RAH offer. Why would F9 accept this offer knowing it is an offer that will liqudate them?
- WN has submiited a non-binding proposal in hopes to talk with F9, which means WN is not very serious about buying Frontier.
- WN have until Aug 10 to submit a binding proposal, something I don't see WN meeting. Its 11 days from today!
- I can't see any judge approving this because, WN is making it very clear they have every intention of liquidating its competition in Denver.
