I would have to disagree.

Take a chance on a job with Southwest verses a guaranteed job at Republic. To two companies and pilot groups don't even compare.

The Frontier pilots will be integrated into Southwest.

I don't think this is exactly good news for United Airlines either. SWA already has a toehold in Denver, and this is only going to make things worse (for UAL).

Sad times for Frontier. A guaranteed job with Republic's low-pay or a possible interview at Southwest.
Not if the DAL/NWA merger is used as any precedent. The bottom 40 pilots on the list are all DAL-S pilots that were actually working, but deemed to have been hired AFTER the effective date of the merger. "Poolies" haven't "EARNED" anything, and are of even lower stature.

I am a former Western pilot. We were treated very well by Delta. The majority of Western pilots had fantastic careers after the merger. Almost every one could have ended their career as a senior international Captain. Their pay doubled within 2 years of the merger and for most was triple within 5 years of the merger. The integration was based on ratio's to maintain your current ability to hold equipment and was a negotiated settlement between the two sides. It did not even go to arbitration.
The majority retired with a better retirement then their Delta counterparts when looking at total compensation. Westen Annuity, Western B fund, Delta DB plan and Delta DC plan. The bankruptcy resulted in some loss of income for the Western retires but far less then the original Delta pilots because of the breakdown in how the money was paid and what the PBGC covered. Considering the state of the industry since 1986 when the purchase took place I am not sure how much better it could have been.

That would guarantee them a future, however unfortunately, at a much lower wage unless they negotiate a better contract.
Show me the RAH integration proposal for FNT (or Midex for that matter) from either their MEC or RAH and I'll consider your argument. So far SW has indicated more about what they will do with employees than RAH has........

There is a huge difference between any regional and SWA. While you hate to see mainline jobs lost, SWA doesn't seem like a bad alternative. Employees are paid and treated well, industry leading infact. I think Southwest has been a bright spot in the industry rather than the one to bring it down. Instead of blaming Southwest, Mainline needs to figure out how to compete with SWA rather than beating them at their own game.

Southwest makes counter-bid for Frontier Airlines - Yahoo! Finance

Dallas-based Southwest said Thursday it submitted a nonbinding bid of $113.6 million. Southwest hopes that making the bid will allow it to talk with Frontier and get information to help shape its final proposal.

Southwest said it faces an Aug. 10 deadline for submitting a binding bid. If there is more than one qualified bidder, an auction will be held the following day.
Ok folks....simmer down.
  1. I can not see F9 accepting this offer as it is only 5.6 mil more the RAH offer. Why would F9 accept this offer knowing it is an offer that will liqudate them?
  2. WN has submiited a non-binding proposal in hopes to talk with F9, which means WN is not very serious about buying Frontier.
  3. WN have until Aug 10 to submit a binding proposal, something I don't see WN meeting. Its 11 days from today!
  4. I can't see any judge approving this because, WN is making it very clear they have every intention of liquidating its competition in Denver.
Ok...How will this benefit F9 Pilots. This is a double-edge sword moment in which to determine which side of the sword is the sharpest to cut your throat. The sharpest side will kill you, while the other side will leave scared for life, but alive!

One side of the sword has F9 possibly taking a significant pay cut, but keeping your jobs. The other side is getting liquidated and hoping to get a merged seniority list at WN. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY MERGER OF SENIORITY LIST AT WN!!!! (ITS A PIPE DREAM!)

Either way, F9 will not come out of this unscathed!
