No, I don't think so. I was never so sharp as when I was working for a beater 135 company flying Chieftains and KAs w/ worthless autopilots.

In the regs, to operate in RVSM the autopilot must be engaged in "cruise."

Climbing and descending you can handfly to your heart's (or ground-pounder newspaper reader's) content.

Holy Quote Batman ...

"It's not that unusual for a pilot to be looking at a laptop in cruise flight," Emilio Corsetti III, a 30-year commercial pilot with American Airlines who has written numerous magazine articles about aviation.

Oh really? I've never, ever seen anyone use a computer in-flight.

Quotes like this are wreckless to our profession.

[quote=USMCFLYR;702888]They could easily adapt one of the many systems already in place in military aircraft. I have cameras in my cockpits to record my displays. Those cameras could easily be moved to film the entire cockpit. I agree with the testing and the such and such - but if they wanted it bad enough then it could be done quickly. One thing to ask yourself though - what are you doing in the cockpit that you are afraid of people seeing? This same argument was use I'm sure when people first started talking about CVRS and FDRs.

Then we would have to start wearing makeup to make sure we looked good when the film clips were uploaded to YouTube. You don't have to worry about that while wearing a helmet! s/f

What is a camera going to provide in an accident investigation that the CVR and recorded parameters don't? The parameter data shows control inputs and switch position at impact is discernible. Cameras may "feel" helpful but really add no value; except to litigation.

The only time I've ever used mine was to pdf search something in the contract...and that's been about 3 times.

I can see why these guys got theirs out..but seriously, pay freaking attention to the jet. One...er...2... bad apples ruin it for the rest of us.

Now if someone could cap Franken in the knee caps, I would appreciate it.

JetBlue pilots use laptops for W&B in their cockpits...this may have been what he was referring to.

If we get cameras, I'm getting a fro wig and wearing it every flight. Making sure to shake from side to side during every takeoff and landing.

When asked about it, I PLEAD DA FIF!!!

(re: dave chappelle)

If we get ones that just tape the displays, I'm going to wear a gorilla sleeve every flight. Anyone got a banana?
