Camera in the Cockpit

Cops do the majority of their work outside in front of the car. It wouldn't make sense to point the camera at the seat. It would just record how great the seats of a 1997 crown vic are while the cop catches a fist in the face from some drugged up toothless wonder.

Not trying to split hairs and I don't have the regs in front of me, but I think "installed and working" implies that they want it to be used. I know if we have the A/P deferred we are unable RVSM...I think the same applies to aircraft without A/P's.

I believe that our FSM says the A/P must be engaged for operations in RVSM airspace. So depends on your companies/aircraft RVSM certification.

Camera in the cockpit won't happen, period. Let me put it this way, if we as pilots nationwide let that happen, we don't deserve to be flying an airplane, we would be a bunch of retarded flying buses drivers....
Nationwide strike of all airlines before that bill passes...

Of course they will talk about this but don't look for it to happen anytime soon. First they have to develop a system. Then they need to re-design the FDR or CVR to take the new data. Next we have to test this new equipment before it can be deployed in aircraft. Then retrofit this new equipment into our aircraft. I would not worry about this happening within the next twenty years. It's one thing to change a few rules. Quite another to redesign equipment. Consider the fact that we still communicate via AM analogue radios while nearly every other analogue VHF communications systems in the world left AM long ago for FM. No, I wouldnt worry over the camera idea any time soon.
