In reality they're not, but many like to think otherwise when the circumstance calls for it.

Doesnt really seem that way.

I questioned rather it was worth coming back to explain, but here goes: The statement you disagreed with, as I understand it, was when I told a disrespectful youth that "pilots work as a team". I never said pilots were united. In my business you have two, three and sometimes four pilots in the cockpit and all share responsibilities for the safe completion of the flight with the captain being the one held responsible if all does not go well. I suppose you may have similar situtations requiring a surgeon, anastheologist, neuro or some other makeup of a team doing a particular prodedure. I would never make the assumption that because an operation required more than one physician that doctors were united. But I should hope that if the pretend procedure we are talking about here was being done on me or a member of my family that this particular team would do their job professionally regardless of their views of the AMA for example. I felt that our rude young poster was going to find it difficult to fit into this team concept with his enthusiastic willingness to walk across a picket line and taken any one of their jobs. This was the concept that I was trying to explain and aside from me explaining my utter disregard for his attitude, I think if you reread my post you will see it in the light I just explained. I see this forum as an exchange of ideas with peers and I find it frustrating to get engaged in debate, albeit my fault to do so, with people who don't know or understand the subject matter they are ranting about. I am sure you are a fine physician and as I said, I applaud your curiosity and fascination with the airline industry. I apologize if you took my comments to mean you were rude or disrespectful as I never had my guns pointed your way. There are others on this forum however that need to be taught some manners, much like young interns.

Uncle Bose:

I respect your contributions on the forum. I just responded with a lengthy post to jetproppilot that I have never inferred pilots were united. What I did say is that we work as a team, as in the cockpit. I do not know your background and won't jump to any conclusions about you. My position here obviously is crossing picket lines is bad for all involved. Please reread my original post if you question what I said. I was suggesting our rude and disrespectful young poster would find it hard to fit into a team environment, working and depending on others in the cockpit, with his eager willingness to take any of their jobs given the opportunity. I hope this clarifies MY position and I wish you well my friend.

I think the post by paladin was extremely well written and reflects his inteligence and open minded nature. [/QUOTE]

I have flown with many scabs and non-members and have discovered that usually they are open minded regarding one thing: being a scab or a non-member. When it comes to all other issues brought up they are usually opinionated and close minded.

Very interesting observation...
I have never been in the position to be a SCAB, thank the Lord, and I will not pass judgement. I think though, that the brotherhood is more important than the self, otherwise, what do we have?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There is an association of pilots that cannot stand the word SCAB. However, they are what they fear the Most, SCABS!
ASK A MEMBER OF THE APA? My ex best friend was an AA pilot and stated many times "We Stuffed the RENO guys to the bottom because they were all SCABS that stole AA jobs"
APA then stole the Jobs of TWA pilots in the name of so called unionism!
These pilots are in my opinion even worse than a man that walks of the street and crosses a picket line for selfish and maybe personal financial reasons. The APA pilot instead hides behind a weak group of avaitors and crutches to slogans of unionism. The APA used thier Company's Corporate buying power to Exploit the TWA pilots. The APA aligned themselves and their greed of the AMR Corporation and not with their trade brothers. They did not use pilot Safety record, Geograhphic history, Date of hire, or culture to integrate pilots in a fair and equitable merger. They stole the jobs of an Elite 75 year + pilot group. Why? because they could. They are the true SC-AA-BS of the Airline industry.
Yes I am ****ed and cannot wait for the day I see an AA picket line!

Default Once A Scab, Always A Scab - Never Forget!

A SCAB is A Person Who is Doing What You’d be Doing if You Weren’t on Strike.
A SCAB takes your job, a Job he could not get under normal circumstances. He can only advance himself by taking advantage of labor disputes and
walking over the backs of workers trying to maintain decent wages and working conditions. He helps management to destroy his and your profession,
often ending up under conditions he/she wouldn't even have scabbed for. No matter. A SCAB doesn't think long term, nor does he think of anything other
then himself. His smile shows fangs that drip with your blood, for he willingly destroys families, lives, careers, opportunities and professions at the drop of
a hat. He takes from a striker what he knows he could never earn by his own merit: a decent Job. He steals that which others earned at the bargaining
table through blood, sweat and tears, and throws it away in an instant - ruining lives, jobs and careers.
ONCE A SCAB, ALWAYS A SCAB - NEVER FORGET!
