NWA Pair Agrees To Forfeit License

Just another reminder that when something occurs, big or small, it is best to just keep quiet. No talking to the feds, the company, the media or other pilots. You cannot lie, but no one can compel you to speak. Also, the only lawyer that represents you is the one you pay. The association lawyers represent you as a member of the association so IMO their loyalties are split.

I think an appropriate penalty for what they did, because of the intentional nature of it, should be steep. I also think the FAA erred by offering a verdict on these guys before due process was served. I also understand the story that's been put forth in the press exagerates their share of the blame, and omits several controller and human factor issues outside the aircraft.
So... I have to ask: isn't losing your income, your reputation, your savings, and your sleep for at least a year steep enough as a penalty? What would it take to make some of you people happy that they've been punished sufficiently?

Have made plenty of mistakes in the cockpit. No I have not had my laptop out(sorry don't own one) no I don't have my cell phone out but thanks for checking.
I also have not landed on a taxiway, flown way past my destination airport, hit a mountain, taking off with the flaps up, landed short at ord, flown through tree tops to get to bdl.
If you think this was a small deal like looking at a magazine I guess we will have to disagree.
Sure agree with the atc stuff though.
Thanks for checking me out though!

Magazine reader.
...And you call yourself a perfect pilot.

Not sayin I am perfect. I spent a long time representing pilots in disciplinary cases at my previous carrier. I have been through cases like this before. I just don't agree with those who always defend any pilot, believing that no action is terminable. I think that taking responsibility for you actions and placing responsibility on those responsible are very important and seriously lacking in our society. As a society we do not demand responsibility, just look at our politicians! That's just one example.
These guys f'ed up, REAL BAD, and I just don't have a lot of sympathy for their behavior. I think a year off is suitable, but I am surprised that this is not considered a terminable offense.

There are forensic ways to determine if the laptops were on at that time. I wonder if the laptops were seized and analyzed? I have just recently gotten into computer forensics and it is very scary what info is stored in small nooks and crannies of: Windows, Macs, and smart phones.
Does anyone know what type of Operating system/laptop they were using?

I'm late to this thread and haven't read it all...are we talking about the 2 super pilots who landed a full 767 on a taxiway? You're right! Just no excuse for those bozos.. They f'ed up real bad. Should be a terminable excuse, I have no sympathy for their behavior.
