you can call me names all you want Mr. Z. Bottom line is, I did answer. Once verified, we are trusted agents and its been that way for years at DEN and many other airports. Crewpass has been tested and will go operational early next year according to the TSA. These are the facts, I guess you will just have to live with them. I am sure you will still be free to go through your metal detector if that floats your boat.

Go ahead and buy into the bureaucratic feel-good speak

HAHA.. Bureaucratic or not, these are the words of the Decider. You don't have to agree, but he will make the decision. Not you. He has been appointed to run the TSA by the Pres of the US. What he says....goes. Sorry dude.

Quote: Don't really know how to respond to your statement, as I kinda' sit on both sides of that fence. Different animal entirely, I agree. Equal to the average LEO--no way. However, an FFDO is still a deputized federal officer, so, give the guy that much. I can tell by your post that you mean no dis-respect.....I agree with you. One should distinguish between LEO/FFDO. Both have earned a level of respect for their service to others.

Indeed, I mean no disrespect at all. Having said that, as a former LEO, yeah, there is a distinct difference. I have zero issue with the FFDO program and support it 110%, but the guy chasing down actual dirtbags who is sworn to protect and serve has a WAY better chance on ending up on the NLEOMF wall. I'll give the FFDO that they are badged but....one of these things isn't like the other. Just my -.02 cents...

There is no SURE FIRE way to guarantee that you'll bring a plane down, even if you wanted to, with the other pilot there, unless he's incapacitated. We all know that in non critical phases of flight, the other guy would have the reaction time to fight you, and in in critical phases, he's (she's) gonna be watching the controls like a hawk, ready to jump in if something doesn't look right. The easiest way to remove that element is to incapacitate the other person, and that's a lot easier to do if you can sneak something on board that they aren't expecting. Therefore, pilots SHOULD be screened... just not naked body scanned or felt up.
There is no surefire way to guarantee anything in this world, other than death and taxes. You and Zapata can knock yourselves out going through security, just leave the rest of us out of it.

Crewpass can't get here soon enough.

Simple solution;Inform the TSA officer that you feel you need more screening.
The officer will be very happy to assist you.

What a joke....

Zapata is right about not closing the thread. We should encourage open discussion. We shouldn't close a thread just because some people don't like its content.

In my opinion, Zapata is, however, dead wrong about screening Pilots because in the past certain Pilots have gone crazy. Hell, the screening process alone would probably push a few more guys over the edge.

Zapata has a posting history of posting whatever is the opposite just to be that guy. That was my reasoning behind it, not the debate itself.

Maybe we could get ALPA Ntl. to make arrangements for Zapata to be subjected to regular, extraordinary screening. Then we'd ALL be happy. Just a thought, I mean, he is looking for "a reasonable solution"...
