Life is fine for me now. I probably reached a little with your post but Ive heard too many captains discuss "going back to the right seat". Not having to decide which POS regional to go to isnt the worst. I also hope for a job at jet blue but a lot of times have heard captains tell me ill be moving up as soon as they leave. FO's have been hired there and other places with minimal PIC time.

Keep chugging. I have buddies hired at JetBlue, Spirit, Virgin who had ZERO TPIC.

Think twice about coming to work here. Health care insurance premiums to hit the roof for 2013, cutbacks for LTD, poor retirement. Wait for DL,UA,AA/US to hire.

You want to know exactly how you are treated while on STD/LTD pm me. As for those idiots who think it will never happen to them go read the "other" board about the guy who has the blood clot with no disability insurance. He's out for a year at least.
The people on this board that claim this is a career job come to work and go home. They have absolutely no clue about insurance, retirement, disability, contracts, etc. Those pilots are equivalent to someone working a minimum wage job with little aspirations for anything better.

Lake, you hit the nail on the head. Was out for over a month and my std didn't cover me so I ended up using pto to get paid. Basically, don't get sick or hurt or you will be in for a rude awakening.

Hopefully, as the benefits continue to erode, pilots will open their eyes. The last drive really didn't fail by much....

Wishful thinking, maybe. Still, didn't fail by much.

Pilots who work for Jetblue or want to work for Jetblue seem to feel that if you aren't being persecuted by management then clearly the company is great.

This naive image of Jetblue is one of our biggest problems.

In reality you can go bankrupt while on Jetblue disability. You will pay a MINIMUM of 20% more than every other carrier for health benefits. If you have surgery and require physical therapy you will be severely limited by the amount visits you may receive. In fact, not enough visits to complete your rehabilitation. Ask me how I know.

An airline job is so much more than not being persecuted by management.

Jetblue is legitimately the MESA of the Majors. If you actually took the time to read what your benefits package entailed you would know why.

"But, but, but.... ALPA furloughed me form UA/US, and Dave likes me, and I upgraded in 6 months here, and that happened to someone else, not me. Why do you troublemakers keep trying to rock the boat? If you don't like it here, you should leave and let us keep taking the Blue Hose from behind..... Oh look, free Pizza! At my last company, the Chief Pilots weren't my friends!"

Did I miss any?

I think you hit most of the highlights.

Look, I'll be the first to admit that none of us have a clue what will happen during a T/E. All I can say is based on my experience at Jetblue I am not expecting much. Like any business Jetblue is out to make money. I would be neither surprised nor disappointed if during an acquisition we were left to fend for ourselves. Again, this is a business.
What does bother me is the BoB's and the "dave will take care of me" group. Dave cares about the shareholders and his bank account. Thats his job, it's not personal.
It's up to the pilots to protect themselves. To date we have not and that makes me furious. Again, anyone on disability at Jetblue can paint you a very graphic picture of how you are treated when its about money.
