Just heard the check airmen were told we are only hiring 70 in 2012 now. Hope its wrong but thats the news.
I didn't hear this straight from a check airmen but a reliable source who relayed the info.
Sounds to me like they were counting on AA and Delta hiring and calling back the furloughs. Doesn't look like thats happening now.

Everyone who attended an interview in the last three months heard the same story. Hiring at least 250 pilots next year and maybe more. Over a dozen planes being delivered next year. New routes being added every month including increased service out of San Juan. They were just also won the bid for slots in LGA and DCA.
Something does not add up to hiring only 70 pilots. And the AA Delta excuse doesn't fly. There have been no plans to recall any of their pilots anytime soon.

I heard this rumor last week as well on a trip. It makes sense as we have pretty adequate Reserve coverage now through the slow months and not too many deliveries. Hang in there though guys... the industry is constantly changing. We won't know for sure until dec. 2012 how this next year's hiring ends up.

Lots in flux at the moment. Hearing rumors of hiring anywhere from 70-300 next year. Im sure things will become a bit clearer soon. Hang in there guys!

According to the June system bid, there are a total of 4 upgrades and 9 new FO slots. That doesn't leave much room for hiring . . . one class could fulfill those needs. I don't see much happening in the way of hiring at least for the first half of the year. Maybe something will happen towards the second half of the year and we can get up towards the 200-250 they have been talking about for the past year.

Wow! This is not good. I heard from people in the Nov 30th class to expect gumdrops, candy canes, holly and good cheer for hiring for a long time. I'm going to have a nervous breakdown from this industry. Either that or I'll start pouring coffee at Dunkin Donuts. At least I get free coffee.

I heard the same new about the" 70 pilots next yr" from a guy in the Nov 3oth class. He also said there was only ONE guy in the Dec 7 class...This news is to my dismay, my choice to leave was already hard enough. I was just made a LCA at 75 hr gaurantee ($138/hr). Leaving current job is not as easy after hearing about the stunted growth
That said, i think the QOL is still better at JB than current...so, whaddya do? hmmm...
