I wonder what the guys pushing relative seniority would say if SWAPA said fine, we'll just keep relative pay rates as well. What you had before, you can have after the merger. I'm guessing they'd be up in arms, "No fair, no fair, no fair!!"

You guys act like you have to write the Air Trans pilots increased pay out of your own checkbooks.......

For the millionth time, relative seniority isn't going to happen. Period, end of story.

As an ALPA guy without a dog in your hunt, I think that based upon the merger contract language in the Air Tran (ALPA) contract being pitted against an independant union (SWAPA), the result of your integration will have long term implications for ALPA.

Indeed...and neither is anything remotely resembling a staple that would allow SWA FOs to take AAI captain seats.

That's the point. It wil probably be some kind of ratio deal that protects the pre-1993 SWA Captains. There may even be some base fences involved to reduce the training costs of people jumping around.

But it won't be a staple and it won't be relative seniority. Those are just greedy dreams.

That is a very interesting part of your diatribe. You and some of the others are saying that they will essentially not be affected.. pay/vacations/benefits remain the same... they will still be doing EXACTLY the same job that they were doing before the merger... yet somehow the fact that they will be still doing the same job.. for a guy that also happens to be doing the same exact job that he was flying before all of this... is somehow unfair. In other words, it would be infinitely more fair that SWA should take all those airplanes.. and those SWA FOs should now instantly be made captains on them. Is that about right?
