He would have been hired at aged 16 to hold that position at SWA the regular way. He and I are the same age and were hired at our respective companies within a year of each other. All of the sudden he is ten years senior, because he went to the other airline. What is fair about that?

If it's not obvious, he really touched a nerve.
I swore to myself I wouldn't get involved in this thread because it was quite amusing to say the least. Buuuuuuuut.... What does any of the above have to do with the price of tea in Bogota? We all made our choices... you are getting all spun up about something that you have absolutely no say, and furthermore it is all speculation on your part. But just suppose that what you say does come to pass. Are you really so unprofessional... or immature.. that you will act like a total ass in the cockpit toward this guy who also.. I might add... had no say in the way it all came about? really? ATI will not be the only beneficiaries of this thing. SWA gets a hell of a lot in this deal that they would take years to get in organic growth. You are going to have the opportunity to fly some international routes that you might never get without this deal. You are going to gain access to markets that you would take YEARS to get into... which translates into growth at some point. So.. if I were you, I would back off the -I'm gonna rip his ear off- rhetoric and think about what you are really saying. After all... it's just more 737 flying... good grief.

Oh, and since when does age have anything to do with anything either? I will never be number 1 at DAL because there were a bunch of dudes hired before me that were a lot younger than me... big deal.

And here all these years I've heard so much about SWA culture...

You're going to have a really short career if your nerves are that sensitive. Look around (past your apparent sense of entitlement) and you might find precedence in previous mergers and the law.

But posts like yours do give me lots of hope that ATL will be a repeat of SLC.

If you don't like your unions advice then you have a choice to make. If you go to FEDEX you'll find they will give you the same advice. So will SWAPA.

You're actually embarrassing yourself and the service by bringing it up in this context.
Look it will always remain MY choice not yours. You could have avoided all the back and forth by asking me politely rather than telling me to "shut my mouth". I have earned the right and you deserve the same. So please honor my right to do so.

Whack, you and RCD73 may have the best of intentions by asking me to qwell my questions, but it seems you two are most vehement when others opinions don't match your own expectations of what you believe you deserve. While both of you are jumping on me for discussing carreer expectations, you two have made your own expectations quite clear through your own posts.

I believe you have every right to do so but please don't jump me for asking a couple of questions.

All I am asking is for you to put yourself in my shoes. It would suck to have someone who hasn't put in the same amount of time be put senior to me as many of the AAI folks deem fair. I didn't say I was going to be a handful but I guarantee there will be some who are if this happens. I didn't say I agree with it either. It's the nature of the beast, ask the former NWA guys how the Republic thing worked out.

I am sick of how some of the AAI guys are allowed to preach what they think is fair but a SWA guys says that ain't fair and all of the sudden we are the evil ones. We have a great culture now, but this thing goes bad and it becomes another job.

Tsquare, you don't even have a dog in this fight. You seem to be spooled up about my post though. The age reference was just there to illustrate that two guys the same age hired at roughly the same time end up with ten years between them and the original SWA guy loses out. This ain't DAL and NWA. The disparity is much greater. You are right, I have no control over it. I do have an opinion just as you have yours.

It is sincerely my hope that we can find a middle ground and this potential mess will be avoided. I have tons of friends at AAI and I look forward to working with them but I think they should put in their time just like I and my fellow SWA pilots have. I know my opinion and and $2.25 will get a Starbucks. I just don't like having someone who got in line after me to get their coffee first.

Back to the coffee line!

Huh? you guys fly the same airplane. What disparity? BTW, the 717 is the same size as your 737-500, according to seat guru.

DOH between to companies is irrelevant. Get over your bad self. Junior guys in any merger take it in the shorts, SLI wise. But you will be a better stronger company because of it and that will benefit you.

You are right brother... I don't have a dog in this fight. I was just trying to save your blood pressure. So soldier on young man.. you will learn a life lesson in the not too distant future that could easily have been avoided.

I knew this would be an entertaining thread.. and you have ensured that.

Have a wonderful day.. but please... try decaf.

Exactly, tsquare. Let's all remember one glaring fact:

SWA career expectation: 737 CA
AAI career expectation: 737 CA

And, LUVGup....

Don't worry, relative postion won't happen...that would be a clear windfall seniority gain just as a staple would be a windfall seniority gain for you.

Fish, I agree with you 100%. Thank you for your positive attitude. Beer is on me when it's over.
