Every single FedEx pilot that I know and have meet over the years claims to never fly nights. They all fly day only. Yeah,,,,,,,Right And look how quick they are to get super defensive when you bring up the topic. It's kind of like being rich. Most people who are truly rich don't talk or brag about it. Those that do find it necessary to boast and brag about things usually truly lack it deep down.
Wow a Delta pilot and a psychologist. We are truly blessed on here. I'm sorry you didn't get hired by FedEx.

I didn't say I never fly nights at all. I said I haven't flown a week of hub turns in years. In fact I had a night leg this week followed by a 24hr layover and then day duty periods. The way I bid, I would guess about 10-20% of my yearly flights are night flights. As I get more senior, that will drop eventually to zero. Yes we do have pure day lines at FDX. It's not a conspiracy of all FDX pilots to mislead the industry on duty periods....

Now you have to stop posting because when we were in BK I had the choice of going to FDX and staying at DAL. You are making me feel like I chose wrong. And yes I would like some cheese with my whine.

It was the right choice for me, but as you know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder or some nonsense like that. I truly believe we'll only know if we made the right career choice well into retirement. And at that time, it doesn't matter anyway....

I enjoyed Delta, but I never thought passes was a big perk. Planes are too full, first class is rarely open, and sitting around an airport all day is a drag. When it worked right, it was very nice though.....

How feasible would it be to live in Atlanta longterm and work for Fedex?

Flying at night is not something a professional pilot (freight or pax) can avoid, nor should it be. If that's an issue then another career is a good idea.

You might have to wait for one of the 60 or so that live there to answer that one!

I've non-revved more than 450,000 miles in the last couple years and I've been in coach internationally less than ten times.

I'm not going to attempt to convince him. I'm the same way as you. My girlfriend and I non rev a bunch. We live in a major Delta hub and are flexible so we pick days to travel when the loads look favorable. I'd say we average almost a trip a month. Over the last 5 years I can count on one hand how many times we didn't get our first flight. Also, we are in first class almost all of the time. Yes we are flexible and we plan our destinations based upon what flights look favorable for getting on and getting first class but we have seen the world in style and I wouldn't trade that benefit for anything. It is priceless benefit to us. FedEx could offer me a job tomorrow at twice my salary and I would turn it down in a heartbeat. I still have 32 years until 65 if I want to go the distance so Delta is going to be a great ride for me and I will be my moneys worth out of my flight bennies. I think his "Righhhht" comment was just sour grapes or jealousy.

Well, I wouldn't go as far as saying I'd turn down a pilot job at FDX because there is no pass travel. As some have mentioned frequent flyer points resulting in positive space vacations in coach class could compare to business class for free as standbys. But I do agree that 'riiighhhht' would be refuted quickly by my passports and stack of business class ticket stubs, none of which were paid for other than taxes.
