Soon to be released by same author - It was discovered that the light pilots use to lock on to for landing had a clapper device attached. A local snow plow backfired twice, causing the glideslope light to shut down..."

No one seems to be placing any blame on Newark... .
We all should take a lesson from this and be very careful what we say on the radio.

If the "boys upstairs" are inferred to as MGT, I'm sure they're going to get an ear-full from the FAA.
With that I'm certain.
The moment his declares an emergency on the radio, or decides to pick up his cell phone and dial 911.....I'm sure either would have put the wheels in motion to ending this 7 hour debacle. Especially with a 'potential' medical condition onboard if you get my drift.
After listening to the selected excerpts from the audio, I would safely say his "W-T-*" metered was well beyond pegged.

What do you guys think of this idea? Some FBO's have an air-stairs that they charge $75 per hour for/ if you do not buy fuel. (We request it occasionally for our cargo Boeing 727 when we have to much cargo on-board preventing access to our aft-air stairs.) In a screwed up situation like Jet Blue's, should one try calling the local FBO for an air-stairs? Or possibly have the First Officer exit on an escape rope, find someone on the commercial ramp with the air-stairs, and bribe him to come over to your aircraft? (FYI-not a passenger pilot so do not beat me up too bad).

Fine Them... The law is in place to prevent this crap from happening.....
The Capt. is just as much at fault...No matter how stupid the company is when safety is in question the Captain needs to act. He should have gone over to Signature or whatever FBO is on the field and off loaded the plane using their air stairs..
If needed blow the slide that's what it is for...
7+ hours is Ridiculous use some common sense...
