I have no way to definitively answer that. I believe they did the best they thought they could.

Non sequitor, but if that is your definition, then probably not.

Whose definition is that? I don't subscribe to a successful negotiation being defined as having the other side blindsided nor clueless.

So says you. As far as who agrees with this statement, that remains to be seen. Just because some of the reps voted no doesn't mean they are ready to burn the house down. I might vote no too... But your distaste of constructive relationships with management is destructive, and will yield counterproductive results. Look around if you don't believe it.

Just a question, and I'm not trying to be sarcastic... I see this place is just frothing with NO's... Are you guys looking at TA language? If so, where is it?

Or are you basing this on the (very underwhelming) Chairman's Letter?

Just asking, not making a statement.

Thanks.

The information in the chairman letter is enough.

Their in lies the problem. Why the information black out? Why are we getting spoon fed our TA when it has been out for a week? As soon as the reps voted on it we should have gotten bullet points at a MINIMUM. Instead we're getting the "we know better" spiel.

The language will be out later today. Stopping by Publix to grab a 6 pack of some yummy stuff and going to pour through the thing.

There had better be some real goodies to make up for the absolutely embarrassing pay bumps.

So no language yet, right? I'm trying to get my greedy little paws on it. Everyone has already described what's in it, and how I'm going to feel.

I'm thinking about trying to experience those emotions firsthand...

*** is it?

Can you imagine if we were in negotiations next summer, and they were forcasting $2Billion in profit for 2013?

BTW, I'll have to go look it up, but think there is a tigger in our current profit sharing formula, that gives us a -much bigger- piece of the pie, when earnings go over $1Billion, which would explain why they wanted that 35% reduction, NOW.
Absolutely spot on. This is why the company was in such a hurry.

Yeah, a lot of goodies. Right now it looks like a no brainer No vote. Although, I do think it'll pass, unfortunately.

Parse the words to infer what you desire, but my point is even the strongest DALPA supporters believed the NC didn't deliver and could not bring themselves to vote for this TA. And surely some who voted in favor didn't like it, but said yes so as to allow DALPA's members to make that decision for themselves. So ask what DPA could do instead all you want, but the question is what could the NC have done better? I'll start: Stated clearly that they could not go to their MEC and their pilots with this POS, but in a much politer way. The company is making great profits, and wants to get this TA so as to allow it to move on to its next initiative. I'm all in favor of that, but I'm not in favor of giving up what should be an opportunity for a much improved contract so as to make their job easier. They get PAID handsomely, and they've shown why with this TA. This was an opportunity to prove how much they thought of our work and efforts. The flowery platitudes from SD every week are nice, and I appreciate the sentiment, but when it comes to actually SHOWING me what they think this is what they give me? Seriously, how dumb do they think we are?
