This is why it took me three minutes to read 2 posts and reply back. For a pilot, you aren't too sharp.

As a uniform, would the dissenters rather have the fashionable look of Virgin, especially the no rear pockets,to celebrate the tush. The mod windbreakers are to die for......and no hat!

Same with Alitalia crews in FCO... ditto the KLM crews who stayed in our hotel in BCN.

Same deal in Caracas, and a bunch of places in S America.

So I maintain that the hat is outdated and disappearing from most uniforms worldwide - for good reason. It does nothing for the uniform except makes it look too Nazi-ish.

What about the dated leather jackets? Can I throw that one into the mix?

Discuss...

More like a boomerang. Seems as if it's one of the few things you could leave somewhere/misplace and it seems to always find it's way back to you.

Thats my point, dated. Just need a newer modern cut IMO. Nothing against its past.

Should airline pilots be required to wear hats? - msnbc.com travel

Evidently the travelling public has their own thoughts on hats... Most say yes or maybe. Only 14% say no.

Some interesting comments...

I think we should be in a uniform that looks like we get paid six figures (because we should, everyone of us).

Businessmen don't wear hats anymore, chauffeurs do. The public might see us as chauffeurs, but I'm sorry we're not.
