Well, guess we know who part of the 5% club at FedEx is now... Thanks for sharing your valuable thoughts on the matter from your lofty perch.

MEMbrain has been warned to tone it down, otherwise he won't be visiting us here so much anymore...

Regional jobs may be entry level jobs but SHOULD they be? No is the answer! All pilots in command of our country's jetliner should be highly qualified. The days of starting as a Flight Engineer and observing for years are over.

I'll give you that on average, the regionals have less experience. But is is not an entry level job. it is the EXACT same responsibilities and duties that you have, on a (sometimes) smaller plane with the exact same equipment yours has in the same airspace. Calling that entry level would be about as dumb as me saying Fedex is entry level since all you do is fly cargo, not people. or that a surgeon operating on a skinny patient has less skill/responsibility than one operating on a fat patient (size of plane). How many military pilots came to this "entry level" job? How many sub 1000 hour pilots have the majors hired?

Most regional jets are as big or bigger that "airliners" of the past. They are certainly faster too. IMO, they have passed the point of being entry level positions. They should pay VERY well. It is the deregulated (not really) walmartization of the industry along with competitive factors that have kept regional pay depressed.

9000+ TT, Flight Instructed 2 years, Night Cargo 3 years, 3000 PIC Mighty Beech 1900D far Northeast winters, 3000 TT CRJ of which 800 PIC, downgraded do to lost contracts. 8 years at my regional, YES 8! Made 35K last year and rent a room, cannot afford decent side of town. Your right, thats about where my pay should be compared to my experience.

Sorry guys, I would apologize for MEMBrain dead except
I doubt He is a FedEx pilot, or if he is, he hasn't been one very long.

He is right, we don't worry about small jets too much here.
FedEx wet leases larger jets. Maybe he has never seen the white 747's or MD11s or A300's that show up around our system carrying our freight, and the pilots flying those jets were making much less. eek:

Scope is everybodies business, it affects us all.
