As others have posted. JetBLue is NOT the carrier that we joined years ago. Nor is it the carrier that management and koolaid drinkers tell you it is.

In the last 5 or so years, they have terminated a number of pilots for various reasons. The latest two are fighting the terminations and both have good chances to be paid off (big $$$$), reinstated or both. Management if violating our PEA and not following the disupute resolution process and violating the FOQA and ASAP programs to terminate guys. It has turned into a very hostile work envioirment, especially if you are pro-union. However, every work group is having similar issues. They are terminating FAs for the least little thing and just terminated the #1 FA. Seems new hires FAs are cheaper than senior FAs ($18/hr vs $40+ per hour)

Coming to JetBlue can be a good stepping stone to a real major (as long as you don't need PIC time). However, everyone needs to come here with your eyes wide open.

Just my opinion......

JetBlue Begins Sharklet Retrofits, Brings E-190 Deliveries Forward
JetBlue ELT has need of the aircraft to continue expansion. The A321s don't come till the end of the year and may not produce any revenue until late 4th qtr. The real problem is that JetBlue deferred too many A320s and cancelled too many A320 options, resulting in a shortage of aircraft. Thus thier only option is to accept more E190s to get airframes. However, the increase to 7 E190s is not exactly a new change. If you go back and look at earlier delivery schedules, we where origionally suppose to get 7 E190s in 2013, but later deferred some to later years. This is just returning to the original deliver scheduled for 2013 (ref the SEC filines for the last 4 years).

The real problem is that we need aircraft, any aircraft. I believe management would prefer A320s, but the only thing on our order sheet we can get is E190s. The E190s has turned into a turd. The word is that its cost per block hours is the same as the A320 (but with 50 less seats and poor reliablity). But it is better than nothing. (maybe).

Just my opinion......

Hey all.....

JB is a paycheck and days off.

Anyone who tells you that it is so much more than that is deluding themselves and fooling you.

As for new hires....classes should have a mix of 320's and 190's. More E jet slots than bus. Expect JFK or BOS for both fleets. More growth in BOS. Transferring out could take a year or longer.

Healthcare is the worst amongst the majors. Pay is ok, but will need a major adjustment very soon. Seniority progression difficult to predict for a new hire. I'm only moving up 100 numbers in ten years. But, if we see a mass exodus of folks junior to #1000 you could personally see decent progression. Nobody has a crystal ball. The music could stop as soon as this afternoon and you'd be reserve for a very long time.

Good luck to all of us.

Nope. I'm sticking around to make this place better. Not negative, just truth. Too bad the truth just looks negative.

And industry average is 13% PLUS profit sharing. Alaska Airlines pilots just got 8% profit sharing. Their total retirement for the year is 21.5% without contributing ONE nickel.

Sorry, Tex, but this statement is incorrect. I take it you're counting the profit sharing as retirement money. Additionally, there are 3 tiers of retirement calculators, none of which approaches 21%.
