There are approximately 40 DAL who are scheduled to return. 17 have left thus far for various other airlines or corporate positions. The number is out on the AA returns going forward. Based on industry hiring the number could reach 100 this year. Time will tell.

While it speaks volumes of JetBlue you must remember this is a business. Despite all the talk and emails about culture and NPS your compensation,benefits package and protections tell the real story.

I cannot speak to specifics when it comes to JetBlue, but if the legacy airlines are going to hire like the 'experts' are predicting over the next few years, the compensation model at companies like JetBlue and Virgin America is going to have to change. If not they risk becoming type rating training programs for the legacy carriers. I know Virgin America does not have the money, simulator space and other resources available to handle constant hiring during a period of zero growth, which is the situation we are in right now.

As of June 1st 23 had left for various reasons 17 of which were UAL recalls or poolies. So the number has to be greater by now. The rest sounds correct. These numbers where shown to me by the BOS CP office.

This should not come as a surprise to anyone. JetBlue is NOT a career Airline.

Maybe not for some but it is for others. I see your perspective but also see the other side of that coin. 5-6 years ago things looked a lot different and in 5 or 6 years from now things will also look alot different. I was in the UAL pool and turned them down in November when they asked. My friends at UAL that started in th late 90's have spent more time unemployed than employed. I choose to stay with the company that has never had a pilot in the unemployment line, plus the base selection at JB fits me very well. Yes we need a CBA. Are we a career airline? That is a matter of perspective.

I'm curious to see what the training will look like after the DAL pilots return. Considering the majority of those pilots are captains each departure accounts for 3-4 potential training slots. Interesting indeed.

Yea and all the new planes on top of that.....yikes.

It feels like there's another step added into everyone's careers.

You start at a regional, get hired on at an LCC/ULCC for the type, then move on to the legacies....SMH.

Except JetBlue doesn't type you initially.
