[QUOTE=alvrb211;1474796]You don't even know me!
Have we met? Do you often find yourself at odds with people who, by your admission, are stating facts? Curious behavior dude. Very curious. JJ[/QUOT No I don't know you only what you post |

ok, see this is the stuff I'm looking for...can you expand on these? how bad are the hotels?
Another kicker, no crew meals. Even though we sell sandwiches and the like on longer flights, we have been "instructed" not to eat them. Doesn't matter if you are starving. You just starve or eat cookies. |
To expand on these a little:
- horrible scheduling - unproductive pairings On the airbus we see a lot of 3-day trips that pay 11-12hrs. You work an evening departure from BOS/JFK to the west coast, 24hrs off, then work the redeye back the next night. They are great for commuters, but horrible for pay since we don't have a rig for calendar days of a pairing. Another least favorite airbus trip is the redeye turn to the Dominican Republic. You leave JFK/BOS around 9-10pm, land in the DR around 2-3am, turn around and fly back to base landing around 8-9am. - autocratic management They don't have any real counterbalance from labor, so they do what they want. - terrible healthcare 2013 rates. ? Life is Better in Blue - zero respect from managers, rampers, flight attendants gate agents because we are all equal We are all referred to as "crew members" and there is no hierarchy where the Captain is the boss. -really ugly uniforms We look like TSA or Smurfs. - terrible reserve policies Honestly, I don't think our reserve system is as bad as some. But we use a bucket system of days of availability where seniority doesn't matter as much when getting assigned a short call period. It goes by who has flown the most hours so far for the month. - no merger protection - domestic codes sharing coming We have no CBA. I wouldn't want to test our flimsy employment agreement up against a real CBA in a merger situation. Should you come to jetblue? I think you should, as long as you come here willing to make changes to create a better place. jetblue is better than any regional, but worse than a legacy carrier. We would like to change that and be on par with places like DAL/UAL/AA. |

Keep the cards coming in. The pace has picked up!

I haven't looked through Part 117 much lately, but will these turns be eliminated once it kicks in? Or will they have to augment them? I wonder if carriers will start augmenting West Coast turns?
Thoughts??? I wouldnt be surprised if some of the hybrid/LCCs start running augmented ops for transcon stuff. I think it would be difficult, logistically speaking, to get an augmented crew to work on a flight that is less than 4hrs to the Caribbean. |

What do JB pilots do that contributes to the pilot profession? |
Snarge, I think the lack of a response to you is the response. Kindly move on.

Compelled to add my 2 cents
Trips/Scheduling: There's always gonna unproductive trips, but our problem is our rigs are ineffective or simply don't apply in situations where they should. -We have a 5hr per duty period rig, instead of per calendar day, which amounts to not very much in most situations. Our Pilot Values Committee (kudos to them for fighting the good fight) has "advised" the company to change it to 5:30hrs per calendar day (hope everyone has read the PVC's recent "PEA Guide"), but forgive me for not holding my breath on that "ask". -We have an international override and 35% of our flying is to int'l cities (29 cities at last count). Sweet! Unfortunately, the policy says it only pays when a route check is required. Which would be 4 out of those 29 cities.. -We have a night override. And we sure have some flights that operate in that ol' Window of Circadian Low (0100-0500). But when you're doing the return leg of an all-night island turn, and the company has set the departure time at 0501 specifically to avoid paying the night override, and we've already been up all night, well that's just cheap and annoying and I would dare say the damage it does to morale outweighs the cost savings. |
