I'd be coming from BWI and would still gladly do it! Haha!

Interesting you say this as Hooverdog's post (#25) indicated BWI being a Sr. base now.
I interviewed back in 06' (had a blast btw), and back then BWI was Jr.
We were informed that if hired, it would either be OAK or BWI.
Not the case anymore.

FMI - I'd just be commuting from BWI until I could get BWI as a base. I believe it is a senior base now.

A quick summary of SWA Reserve
- 90 TFP guarantee with 15 days on - split into a mix of 3 & 4 day blocks
- 2 hr call out -- no long call or airport standby
- AM RAP (reserve availability period) usually starts at 0330L / PM RAP 0945L
- Released on last day after 9 hrs if not used
- Can give a fly/no fly preference but scheduling will manage assignments once
guys start getting close to reserve guarantee
- Do not "own" the trip until you arrive on airport property
- Once you start a block you can put remaining days of block in trip give-away

Major effort in current negotiations to improve reserve rules. Only about 15% reserve coverage so you will fly during busy summer months--not so much in winter. Limited amount of crash pads and all require a vehicle. Good amount of commuter hotels but rooms fill up for Raiders/Oakland A's home games.

Recently jump seated on a SWA flight while headed to vacation. The captain told me point blank if he were in my shoes he would not go to SWA right now. Better places to be with movement. The culture is strong at SW...there is not doubt about that but he said no one wants to admit folks are and will continue to leave for DAL and UAL as soon as the hiring starts.

As long as you flew F15s, F16s, or did an internship. Youtube proof of terminating kittens without prejudice also helps but is no lock like the previous three.

Thanks for this V. I would be a commuter if hired (horse before cart).... but this is nice to know.

And the emails to apply further (with the link to pilot credentials) from this window are going out. I am pretty sure that all qualified (meet the mins) candidates will get them, as I am not special, but I got mine a few hours ago. Good luck to all.

How long is it generally taking for the email link to be sent? I filled out resume yesterday, have above all of the minimums. I figured it could take a few days, i just don't want to miss the window. Just wondering what others are experiencing with the process. Thanks!
