Default 117 FDP 2 hr Extension at UAL, DAL, AA etc...

What happens at UAL, DAL or AA (or any other major for that matter) if you are delayed and needed to fly into the 2 hour extension of your FDP?

Are you automatically extended? Is there any pay benefit for doing so?

My employer says you automatically agree to the extension when you sign the "fit for duty" paperwork before each leg. If you are delayed and refuse the extension, my work considers it a Fatigue call. Also, it my trigger a strike against you in our "dependability policy" where you may be disciplined. This also my lead to the loss of pay.

Thanks.

I would start filing ASAPs then. Anything that gets this in front of the FAA. 117 and the Q&A are pretty clear on the extension language.

And by "employer" you mean JetBlue. It is happening folks. Be aware.

As a UAL guy, our contract states the following:

5-F-1-h: "The Company may offer Add Pay to a Pilot to waive contractual duty limitations, or to extend the flight duty period limits per allowable FAR limits when Pilot concurrence is required, provided there is only a single flight in the Duty Period and the offer is made and accepted before takeoff of that flight. If the Company requests and the Pilot agrees to waive up to seventy-five (75) minutes, he shall receive two and one-half (2.5) hours of Add Pay. If the Company requests and the Pilot agrees to waive more than seventy-five (75) minutes, he shall receive five (5) hours of Add Pay."

Not sure if this answers your question.

Yes, at Delta, management says by signing the release you automatically agree to the two hour extension. If later the captain doesn't want to do it, he just tells the dispatcher, no problem. If the FO doesn't want to do it, he has to fatigue out. Also, in some instances the two hours actually exceeds the contractual maximum.
Fun times.

But in no way are you ever threatened with loss of pay or depenability reviews, correct?

Jetblue is pilot pushing and it is illegal!

If you fatigue out at DAL you will lose pay 95% of the time unless they find something for you to do after you have gotten rest.

Not one pilot has been docked pay for refusing the FAR117 extension at Delta. If it's just a normal fatigue call the CP will look at the circumstances and make a decision to pay protect or not protect the pilot. I only recall fatiguing out twice and was pay protected both times.

Not talking about fatigue. Talking about refusing the extension. Will you lose pay if you refuse the extension.

Also in most cases are your contract limits less than 117?
