The Wright Amendment is a insane.
It was a law in the 70s to help grow the new airport, DFW airport, while reducing congestion at Love. DFW was built because the current airports in Dallas and FT Worth were over operating capacity.
So 30 years later DFW is one of the busiest airports in the world. And we still have this law limiting flights at Love and allowing AA and advantage.
AA knows it was a crap advantage, that's why they have spend millions to lobby to keep it. Finally it's gone.

Not exactly. ALL airlines, and both cities signed an agreement in the 60s to move ALL airline operations to DFW when it was completed, before SWA was even born. SWA sued and won in the US Supreme Court the right to stay at Love mainly because they never signed the agreement and were an intrastate provider, and thus outside the scope of the CAB. But that changed after deregulation when SWA wanted to expand to destinations outside of TX (from Love). That's when DFW, the airlines, and Ft. Worth got ****ed. The result was the Wright Amendment of '79. Worked pretty darn well for 30+ years. A crap advantage? A crap advantage was SWA getting to stay at Love while eveyone else couldn't even operate there (74-79). Probably the only reason they survived the 70s...well that and their HAWT FA's

Like United did out of EWR? All they did and continue to do is hurt themselves by dumping capacity. A good thing about VX operating these flights into ORD, DCA, and LGA is that they are slot restricted so SWA can't just dump capacity. Plus, VX and SW are a different brand. SW does not have a first class and caters to a different customer base than VX does. I think SW and VX would do very well out of DAL.
Plus, this is good news for you as a Delta Air Lines pilot. If Delta gets the DAL gates, they plan on running RJs with non-Delta Air Lines pilots operating on those routes. In fact Delta is already selling DAL-LGA tickets even though they have not gotten the gates. E170s/E175s.

I LUV it...
(and yes, Shyguy..I took notice of your shot at delta pilots, but chose to ignore it. I don't know why you have such a hard-on for delta guys, but good luck working that out)

Only if Delta gets the gates, which the DOJ has stated will not happen.

Afraid of real competition? Everywhere you have tried to take market share from us, you have been beaten back. You are a very normal airline, with very normal problems, and a limited ability to respond.
