I would rather contribute $10,000 of my own money to JBPA than have ALPA.

That being said, I will support them if/when elected. We need a CBA, and I'll welcome a CBA however we get it. I may even volunteer for the union, but that will depend highly on who gets into office at JetBlue.

There's no effing way I would've chosen to abstain from the vote. I have an opinion, and I have the right to express it, just as you do. I know abstaining helps express your particular position, but it does so at the detriment to mine.

In any case, I've already voted. If there's a runoff, I welcome it. My vote will be the same.
Ok fair enough. I still disagree but I can appreciate your passion.

Default Jetblue...how did you vote?

Thanks man. We don't have to all agree, but we should respect each other's position.

Doesn't much matter, either way you'll be paying ALPA dues 3 weeks from now. You're either with us, or you're against us, sounds like you'll never learn. Thank a yes voter though, we just saved you from Obamacare.

Although, I see you have Tricare and a military retirement, so that's probably why you don't care about us "little people." You got yours!

And this is the kind of thinking that will kill our "union".
You are the one who will never learn. PLEASE DO NOT RUN FOR A UNION POSITION.

I'll correct one little small mis-impression from this food-fight. No dues first 90 days.

Safe from Obamacare? Wow you really have no clue do you? I voted yes, but I have no faith we will be safe from that disaster. Just wait for people to not make payments... At some point the companies are Gona have to come after unions during 'negotiations'. They already came after pensions the last several years.

Kellwolf, you seem to place a lot of blame on your former MEC's. Okay, fair enough. Some MEC's are better than others. However, what share of the responsibility for your prior misfortunes belongs to the company and the management that runs it?

Unions don't fire, furlough or impose concessionary contracts. Unions prevent and mitigate those as best they can given the financial climate at the time. This is the point every "I hate ALPA" or "I hate unions" pilot ignores. ALL the negative things that happened to you in the past were the DIRECT RESULT of management imposing or trying to impose them on you. MANAGEMENT made all those decisions. Your MEC, ALPA, IBT or whomever were just trying to limit the damages. Your beef is with airline management, not unions.

ALPA may be flawed in some ways but without them running interference the state of our profession would be catastrophically worse.

Had the pleasure of riding up the elevator to the 9th floor with a retired DAL capt. He said "if were smart we'd vote no. ALPA never did a thing for him except give away his pension..."

I said I was sorry to hear that and asked if he thought that he would have ever had a pension to begin with without ALPA, and why did big D ask for the concessions in the contract if it had been so well managed?

The last 2 floors of the ride were mildly amusing to me as I watched his blood pressure rise and vein in his forehead throb.

He didn't say goodbye on the way out.

Good for you. There are always geniuses out there telling not to take advantage of a benefit they have, but like to complaint about.
