Default Part Time?

I've heard you can sell trips and reduce your days to around 8 a month. Any insight is much appreciated.
Watch what you ask for! Take full time and drop or trade off trips. Don't ever try to get part time, don't give the company any ideas here. I worked in an in an industry that had part time, and it became really difficult to get full time over the years.

The point is that management would be more than happy to pay you less by making you part time. We should all demand full time jobs, and have the ability to give up trips if we want.

6 around the corner? Do you know something I don't?

I'm not understanding the concept of dropping trips. Is it just unpaid time off? Does it come out of your vacation or sick time? Does it generally work the same for all airlines?
Thanks in advance.

No, you simply don't get paid for the value of that trip. IOW, if you start the month with an 80 hour calendar and drop a 20 hour trip, you are only going to get paid 60 hours.

The mechanics of how you drop it vary by airline, but generally the trip goes into a pool of "open time," to be picked up by another Lineholder or assigned to a reserve.

I had to go to our contract and see if we had a sixth year added. It says that we still top out at 5 weeks of vacation after 19 years, do you know something?

It depends on the pilot contract that applies to you.

Generally dropping trips is like getting unpaid time off.

Some folks do it to drop unproductive trips and pick up something worth more so they get paid more to be gone the same amount of time they would have been gone anyway.

And some do it just to not work.

It doesn't come out of vacation or sick time unless the pilot contract allows it.

Another source of time off is if there is transition conflict or legality conflict language in the contract. Depending on how its written depends on whether you get paid time off for the flying that is removed from your schedule due to a conflict.
