No indications of U.S. subway terror plot, officials say

Intelligence and law enforcement agencies have no indications of an ISIS terror plot against U.S. transit systems, two U.S. law enforcement officials told CNN earlier.

Later on Thursday, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Iran and Iraq Brett McGurk told CNN's Brianna Keilar that there "is no specific credible threat whatsoever that they have uncovered to the United States." He spoke to Keilar having just come from a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and Vice President Joe Biden.

 

The land of the free and the home of the brave... sure it is.

Homeland Security needs to assign duties to the populace in the event someone in a bin Laden suit jumps out from behind a bush and says "BOO!"

1/3 of the population will be tasked with running in circles waving their arms in the air and screaming.

1/3 will be tasked with ensuring every single individual is 100% safe 100% of the time from anything at all bad that could possibly happen regardless of the effect on liberty and the economy. This includes hangnails.

The remaining 1/3 will be tasked with cowering under their beds.

 

But none if it's a left-wing source like cnn, msnbc, espn or TYT? Hmmmm

 

I don't consider CNN "left wing", but to your point, yeah I expect to see "news" on robust, connected and/or mature sources like major network news (NBC/ABC/CBS News), CNN, BBC, Politico, Al Jazerra America, even (gasp) Fox or MSNBC.

Any of the above is more credible for "news" than (for example) The Washington Free Beacon or some other UNSOURCED blog with a hard right-wing slant.

And I say that as a registered Republican that happens to have a rather sensitive BS filter.

On subject though, with the lax immigration oversight that this country has, why do idiotic Americans get bent out of shape when something like this happens?!
Americans want the benefits of everything, but are upset when they find out that EVERYTHING has a catch.

 

I would argue that FOX or MSNBC are on par with right or left wing blogs. They have proven over and over again that they have little to no "robust" news reporting ability but heck they do a good job of rallying there perspective sides.

 

As everyone is debating sources lets all agree that CNN sides left, FOX sides right and all the others have their left/right slants as well. What is confirmed is the return of citizens that have fought alongside ISIS. Do we think they came home because they woke up and said this is wrong? I'm gonna say no. The same thing happened prior to 9/11. All the left leaning sources were crying no credible intel concerning terrorists using airliners as weapons. Look what happened. One could say that since Clinton was Prez and anti war that putting the squash on worries and keeping heads in the sand was all that was needed to protect the political party. Look at what Judicial Watch finally uncovered after many years of FOIA requests. It will surprise the heck out of anyone to see that the Clinton Admin had credible intel to act on. Recently Clinton opened his own mouth saying he should have taken OBL out when he had him on a plate basically. Unfortunately the left prefers the "it won't happen on our watch bcuz we are trying the nice approach to our enemies politics" which history shows only emboldens the enemy. I see a parallel approach to this by our current Administration. Time will tell.

 

Actually, that is not correct. Fox News (and believe me, after years of FBO TVs glued to FNC I cannot f'ing stand that channel) gets breaking news out MUCH faster, and often times, their sources for breaking news are more accurate/reliable than other news providers.

Also, I'd argue NBC News (which MSNBC has direct access to) is one of the very best in the world, arguably behind BBC but ahead most anybody else. MSNBC's failings are one of ideological slant to how stories are presented, and not NECESSARILY the stories themselves.

CNN...well, I think they are the most middle-of-the-road of the Big 3 cable news networks politically (talent slants left, I think the 'news' is mostly objective) but their sources and filler-level reporting are God-awful (witness Malaysian 370).

Politico is generally my domestic go-to.
