Delta may hit 135 a month in early 15. From the L&G thread. Folks wanting UAL likely have good news too.
A few seniority facts for the junior folks.
According to my math we had 241 retirements for 2014 based on the Dec seniority list.
I think we had less than 100 mandatory retirements scheduled.
2015 has 146 mandatory retirements scheduled.
At the start of 2014 I had 1099 guys/gals junior to me on the list
At the start of 2015 I will have 2037 guys/gals junior to me.
That is 938 numbers added to the list for the year.
12,316 total pilots on the list.
12,430 total pilots on the day of the SLI Dec 2008
January classes should put us back over the total number of pilots we had the date of the SLI.
Not a bad year for seniority movement at Delter.

We have 1st year pilots who are holding lines in just about every NB category. We even have recent hires holding lines on the 75/76. By year 2-3 they will be earning more than a lot of EK Captains. They will be 1/2 way up the Delta list in a decade. It's a very good possibility that pilots hired in 2014/2015 will have Captain upgrade opportunities by the end of this decade, if not sooner. Even if you were 50 you could come to Delta today and have a very nice 15 year stint.

This is my opinion only: I think it started out better than it ended for him at EK. I don't know what happened. It definitely wasn't my kind of flying. I loathe long-haul international. I'm glad I didn't have to make the choice.

Thanks Scambo.
I work as a contract pilot/instructor now. A lot more time off and a lot more time in the USA, but certainly less take home pay than Emirates. My actual employer is a contract agency, but the majority of my duties are for a company that would probably prefer I keep a low profile.
If I was younger I would certainly have considered going to a major. Lost my seniority number at USAirways ( crappy as it was after the Nic award ). In other threads here and elsewhere I encourage the younger American guys at Emirates to consider going back to a major now.

I'm glad to hear that things have worked out well for you. I met you years ago in Peachtree City, GA during a road show. Regards.

I don't know the gentleman, but there is a former NWA captain that retired just prior to the merger, went to EK and is now at UAL. This guy must be in his late 50's at this point, maybe older. He used to blog about his adventures at EK. Then, he stopped. His last blog seemed cryptic to me. As if he was constrained in his communication. I was really interested in his experience, given I could have been in his shoes.

I flew with him shortly before he left. The other part of the story was his wife had a connection to high level NWA management. My feeling from our conversations were that she was convinced and had convinced him NWA was headed for bankruptcy and would be split apart.
He was a nice enough guy but spent the entire trip trying to convince me I should head to the ME carriers and how great it was. I had spent enough time in the military over there and knew I wanted no part of it. In hindsight I would bet he thinks he made a very large mistake as he is now slinging gear on a NB at United.
