Going between LGA and JFK via public transport loses its appeal after about a week!

Lugging your roll-aboard + kit bag(maybe) + lunch bag(maybe) gets to be a real drag. You will find that nearly everyone that is forced to do it will take the Q runner, Airporter, or a cab.

Uggghhh and I live RIGHT between JFK and LGA and have to commute halfway across the country now that my regional closed 4 bases in the last 5 years. Used to be able to roll out of bed and be in either crewroom within an hour.

Anyone wanna trade?!?

(Sorry yesterday was my first day commuting in almost 11 years)

I did the JFK commute for a couple of years. It was a lot easier for me to go to LGA though, but I was on reserve and had a decent crashpad in Kew Gardens. So I would just spend the night there. I usually took the Q-Runner, which was $11 at the time between LGA and JFK with a stop in Kew Gardens. Public transit is a pain.

5a bus runs every 30-40min from IAD to rosslyn and l'enfant plaza for a quick metro ride to DCA...bus is $7. Takes me 60-90 minutes from one to the other.

I've been doing the JFK/IAD commute for over 2 years. Only use jetBlue, 3 flights a day (2 on Saturdays), ALL on the 190. I've only been screwed 3 or 4 times and just rented a car one way for about $100. Rest assured, the jetBlue pilots do everything in their power to get EVERYONE on.

I use the airporter between JFK-LGA and vice versa. If you buy a book of 20 coupons it works out to $9 a ride (instead of $14 per one time). Often very late leaving JFK in morning. They advertise terminal 5 at 5am on the first run; however, it's more like 5:20. Plus they make multiple stops. If you have time it's a cheap, clean, and reasonably pleasant option.
