Norwegian Air hiring U.S. pilots for Fort Lauderdale base - Sun Sentinel
"Currently, two subsidiaries — Norwegian Air International (Ireland) and Norwegian UK (London) — are awaiting approval from the Department of Transportation for their foreign air carrier permit to operate flights between the United States and Europe."

I think Norwegian is doing their best to completely blur the line between the subsidiaries in the eyes of the public. Also, if the pilots are hired to a contract staffing company, wouldn't it be pretty easy to swap them over to NAI if it gets approved?

Bummer it took til the 3rd page to discuss the real issue here.
What scares me here are the low time guys with 1500-2500 hours who don't understand the politics of the industry. To a lot of them, this just says, "Hey you! Yes, you! You can fly a 787!" They don't understand the repercussions of Norwegian on the industry. Heck, even some 20-year Captains I know aren't familiar with NAI or Norwegian; they just fly their trip and go home without ever reading ALPA emails or reading up on the state of the industry.
Then you have the guys who would step on their grandmother to move up, no matter how shortsighted the move is. I think there are less than the first group, but certainly enough to fill a few flight decks for Norwegian.
In summation, this is why we can't have nice things.

There are some serious issues I have with the way the union has inflated pay at the top and done the opposite to the pay structure on the bottom.

I'm sorry but that is like blaming the guys at the regionals for taking those jobs even though they pay below market rate for what mainline would pay. The real issue in that case is the mainline carrier pilots sold the scope for pay raises (circa 2000 UAL contract as an example).
