When the joint contract is signed, we will all see the benefits of this.

He works for CAL, I think. Anyway, you are right. It does seem as if he likes to stir things up. Might be a CAL management plant. You know, if he can create enough animosity between NWAPLA and DALPA then CAL might have a chance. Otherwise they are the possum in the road, and we (NW & DL) are the Mack truck.

One big Mac truck, that is for sure. From what I have been reading from NWA & DAL road show recaps is that both realize this thing is happening and we have to move forward.

I'll be the first to bed a beer that we'll have a joint contract TA to vote on by Oct 31st. (That date has come up a couple times here at DAL so I might as well start there).

After all, most stuff has been agreed to already in previous negotiations.

Then the SLI goes to an arbitrator who we can all call an "idiot" for the next 20 years.

Flare,

I went to the MSP roadshow yesterday. It was still going strong at the 3 1/2 hour point when I had to catch a flight back to DFW. So, way too much stuff to post here. We are close on the SLI in terms of "process". Staffing formulas and stuff like that are at issue. The idea of a dymanic list seems to be accepted by both sides, so like I said close but still so far away.

Our merger guy who has been in on several arbitrations both here and at national advises against it.....way too many unknows, the least of which is the arbitrator himself. Great quote, the "arbitratiors who are available are the last ones you want".

Ferd,

If a negotiated SLI is possible, I'm all for it. I guess I'm just trying to manage my own expectations with all of this. I don't think either side wants to lose control over the SLI process but is unfortunately been the case many many times.

It'd be nice if they can figure this whole thing out so we can move forward and have this new company pull ahead of the pack.

I second this, if we don't it could be a HUGE DISASTER. If we don't this agreed upon, it would be pointless to merge.

I wasn't trying to be incendiary. when I first read that last sentence I thought he ment you need to work with nwa but then I remembered hearing someone saying that deltas stance was to work with management so they wouldn't be left behind. it was as simple as that.

you are right though, I like to play devils advocate and try and see things from every side.

I don't say who I work for because I don't think that matters. I've called my airline out for it's own issues many times.

I would love to attend the road show but I doubt any airline would allow the other airlines in. I've read nwa's just the facts sheet. Have you guys put anything like that out? It would be interesting to see that side of it.

What were the growth issues?

I hope you are right that the nwa guys will reap, along with you guys, with the joint contract. I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

I wish I was CAL management. they made alot of money...

I wouldn't say that I like to stir things up. I do like to ask questions and sometimes things start swirling.

are you implying here that when you and nwa merge CAL doesn't have a chance? just remember that alot of people will swerve to miss the possum and run off the road.
