Calmwinds, thank you for your reply, I had hoped you would do so. Primarily, we are making a decision on our priorities - 1 I’m older (61) and would like to get TPIC in the 121 world before I turn 65, as that will set me up for my post 65 career plans. 2 We both wish to live near our adult children and families. 3 I have recently been unsuccessful in obtaining my ATP type at another 121 operator in the allotted sim time and I know that I will be successful with another round of sims. (Beyond session 9, they were coming too infrequently to be sharp and consistent in my performance.)
I have friends at OO, but their upgrade time is pretty long. I looked at other regionals, but my wife and I are not willing to move East for Republic, Endeavour, PSA, etc.
My friends tell me that I remind them of Dick Karl, the retired Surgeon who does the columns for Flying. His most recent column is, interestingly enough, about his type rating failure for his new jet.

I believe the problem with our current training is the sequence given the length of time to get to SIMs. Doing FPT so far before SIMs is a waste of time, new hires forget everything they learn from FPT before they get to SIMs given a month or more in between.
The dilemma: We are hemmoragjng pilots and they can’t stop hiring.
The training department should have paid the SIM instructors and examiners Ejet pay like they asked. It has cost the company much more in frustrated new hires quitting, new hires paid while they sit for a month or more, and in lost productivity on the line. United has to be ****ed off with our January performance. JO should fire the person who made this decision.

Sorry guys but please don't treat the Sim 0's as "non-jeopardy" events. They are signed off just like any other sim session. You can "fail" them just like any other sim and several people have. The reason for the name is because they were added to the training program after the original training footprint was approved and put in place. Instead of rewriting the whole syllabus, they were created as an add-on and just called "Sim 0" because they came before Sim 1.
